Volodymyr Zelensky has demanded that Ukraine be granted full membership of the European Union.
Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, had called for the country to be given a special half-in, half-out relationship, which would mean it could participate in European summits and ministerial meetings – but not cast a vote.
Mr Zelensky criticised the “associate membership” concept, branding it an “unfair” move that would leave Ukraine “voiceless”.
The Ukrainian president urged the EU to commit to his country’s full entry in a letter addressed to Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, and Nikos Christodoulides, the Cypriot president who holds the rotating chair of the Council of Ministers.
“We are defending Europe – fully, not partially, and not with half-measures,” he wrote in a letter seen by Reuters late on Friday.
“Ukraine deserves a fair approach and equal rights within Europe.”

Little z, please keep cramming yourself down their throats.
Make them taste you, Naked Piano Player!
L'il Zman deserves his comeuppance delivered with malice aforethought, and plenty of it.
What? Soviet Union membership ain’t good enough?
He won’t even allow elections.
What is he going to declare war on the EU if he doesn’t get his way?
People in Hell demand ice water.
Zelensky is Europe’s Problem.
The worst thing he could do for Ukraine is hook up with the broke and failing EU
And be subject to all their destructive rules and regulation , not to mention being forced to take in 2-4 million cultural enrichment , illiterate. Militant Muslim illegal aliens to screw Ukraine up as badly as the EU and Scandinavia has been screwed up.
That's a recipe for civil war in Ukraine as Ukrainian men are not the sort of wimpy, effeminate girly men you see in the EU . These guys have not spent 4 years in trench warfare with Russia just to be bullied and abused by a bunch third world Muslim invaders like we see in France, Germany , UK , Sweden and the rest of Europe and Scandinavia
The migrants try to pull their tricks in Ukraine and it will not go well for the migrants, which will put Ukraine in violation of so many. EU regulations they will not be able to count them all
Right now, they're having trouble finding $$$ to pay to arm Ukraine.
Zelensky is calling out the EU on this.
The EU may eventually cut off Zelensky and the war will end.
They'll pretend to be partners but ultimately Zelensky is going to run out of money.
Zelensky is Europe’s Problem.
Zelensky is Europe’s Problem.
Zelensky is Europe’s Problem.
Zelensky is Europe’s Problem.
I really like the sound of that.
Set it to the sound of music. Or a firing squad.
I have a solution to the funding of Ukraine’s reconstruction
Take the 90 billion Euro loan currently intended to destroy more of the Ukraine ( and fund more theft and fraud) and add to the cost of rebuilding, end the war ASAP and use the 90 billion euro (100 billion dollars ) to rebuild Ukraine
But that would rational
1. Who more resembles Winston Churchill? Zelinski or Trump.
2. Who more resembles Vladimir Putin? Zelinski or Trump.
3. Have either of you ever given any evidence whatsoever in this forum that you would rather Ukraine win than Russia?
how can he be a member of the EU with disputed borders?
Sorry, pal, that vote must be unanimous.
“Zelensky demands”
What’s the “or else”?
Crazy, Russia is in its 1552 day of invading Ukraine and destroying everything in its path but its Europe, that has funded Ukraine's defense which is "destroying Ukraine". Amazing
No, the worse thing for Ukraine is to be occupied by a poorer Russia where 20% of households do not have an indoor toilet.
No, they have funded Ukraine with a 90 billion dollar loan.
Europe is the largest financial backer of Ukraine, having committed over €200 billion in total financial, humanitarian, and military aid since the invasion. The bulk of this is directed through the European Union, which has established a €90 billion financing scheme to fund the country's budgetary and defense needs through 2027
