At least 42 United States military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, have been lost or damaged during the war in Iran, according to an official report. The losses may increase due to multiple factors, including classification, ongoing combat activity, and attribution, said the report by the Congressional Research Service (CRS).
The aircraft losses and damages include four F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets, one F-35A Lightning II fighter aircraft, one A-10 Thunderbolt II ground-attack aircraft, seven KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refuelling aircraft, one E-3 Sentry airborne early warning-and-control system aircraft (AWACS), two MC-130J Commando II special operations aircraft, one HH-60W Jolly Green II combat search-and-rescue helicopter, 24 MQ-9 Reaper medium-altitude long-endurance uncrewed aircraft and one MQ-4C Triton high-altitude long-endurance uncrewed aircraft.
The US Department of Defence has not published a comprehensive assessment of combat losses so far. The CRS, which provides policy and legal analysis to the US Congress and committees, compiled the losses by perusing news reports and statements by the Department of Defence and the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The war in Iran began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on Iranian targets, killing several prominent figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran's foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, posted the CRS report on X, saying that the US said Iran had gained knowledge from two months of combat action before the ceasefire in April. He warned that Tehran will use its learning and will deliver "many more surprises" against the US forces if Trump resumes military action against the Islamic Republic.

Lost or damaged.
THE LOSS OF THE 2 WORLD TRADE CENTER TOWERS & DAMAGE TO THE PENTAGON WAS BETWEEN $55-60 BILLION. JUST THOSE 3 BUILDINGS.
Fake headline. “Lost or damaged” could mean the type of wear expected during routine training.
Can you put a price on the 3,000 dead humans?
I don’t recall reports of Iran having much success at all repelling the U.S./Israeli military operation.
And now we hear this?
Also, a massive difference between losing one of our extremely expensive manned aircraft, and a drone.
Attribution is not a way in which aircraft are lost. Attrition might be. Attrition is when a plane becomes obsolete or stops working and is no longer usable. Anyone who thinks attribution is a way airplanes are lost is not qualified to report on the subject.
Beyond fake news into realm of propaganda .
I searched how many aircraft the military loses per year in peace time. It’s a big number.
There seems to be a lot of missing context. Kinda like giving you a bill at Aldi listing the items and only the total.
Let’s face it, the Persian Gulf is a stupid place to fight a war.
The Iranian always know where we are.
Damaged could be 1 bullet hole, blown fuse and a yellow warning light in the cockpit on startup.
When a republican is in the White House you will see a daily tally of lives lost in battle. There must not be as many lives lost during this campaign so maybe listing equipment losses is the most damage the press can do at the moment.
This is not new news. Pretty much all included has been reported over the course of events.
4 F15s shot down by friendly fire in Kuwait.
Two C130s destroyed by our own troops on the ground while rescuing the F-35 crewman in Iran.
Tanker aircraft damaged on the ground in Saudi by Iranian drone attacks.
And that drones were shot down was also reported.
Not to mention F18E lost at air shows
ord Motor company put $50 million on the estimated on the payouts for 180 burn and combined burn deaths in their Pinto with the poorly shielded gas tank. Cheaper than the >100 million $ to fix them. See the Pinto Memo.
This reeks of propaganda and half truth at best

What will the cost be if Iran struck us with a nuclear weapon?
