A Minnesota county prosecutor on Monday announced charges against an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in the nonfatal shooting of a Venezuelan man during the Trump administration’s crackdown in the state.
The officer, Christian Castro, is charged with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime in the Jan. 14 shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said at a news conference. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
“Mr. Castro is an ICE agent, but his federal badge does not make him immune from state charges for his criminal conduct in Minnesota,” Moriarty said, adding that Sosa-Celis never posed a threat and that her office received no cooperation from the federal government. “There is no such thing as absolute immunity for federal officers who commit crimes in this state or any other.”
Castro, 52, shot Sosa-Celis in the thigh after Castro and another officer chased a different man to the Minneapolis apartment duplex where the man and Sosa-Celis lived, Moriarty said, noting that both Sosa-Celis and the other man were legally in the U.S.
Castro fired from the yard through the home’s front door knowing there were people who had just run inside, she said.
“The bullet traveled through the door and struck Mr. Sosa-Celis’s leg before making its final impact in the wall of a child’s room,” the prosecutor said.
Federal authorities initially accused Sosa-Celis and Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna of beating an officer with a broom handle and a snow shovel during the incident. But a federal judge later dismissed the charges and ICE and the Justice Department opened a joint investigation into whether two immigration officers lied about what happened.

I kind of sort of remember something about not shooting if you can't see your target and anything behind it.
Best if luck with all that.

Being a report from Minnesota government, I doubt anything they say. It is possibly true, but likely a contrived story. Like flipping a coin and having it land on the edge four times in a row.
What about the Pretti killer?
Exactly. I have my doubts as well. From Dave, what it was obvious the position in Minnesota government was going to take, showing a clear bias.
Its an alinsky tactic.
#13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
I mean feds are not immune if they falsify a report to cover up a bad shoot, then we the citizens do not want such agents in the force. Let the investigations play out and see where the truth is.
States can issue warrants the feds will ignore them. The danger is going to another blue state and they grab them and extradite them state to state without the feds involved. Course that should spark a constitutional crisis and bring the full power of the fedgov down on the governor of said State send the US Marshalls to arrest them for USC code violations not related to this case as in aiding and abetting or harboring illegal aliens which is a federal crime. Hit them with thousands of years worth of USC code violations at least one for each alien stack them sequentially not concurrently the sentence would run into the thousand years mark. Course the next dem POTUS will pardon them but the process is the punishment.
Again did these agents lie to cover up a what appears on face value questionable shooting.
CAN WE REMOVE MINNESOTA FROM THE USA???
“Oh but we’re NOT gonna charge Gov. Walz and Omar for stealing over 15 BILLION dollars from MN taxpayers and giving it to the Somalis to send overseas in cash to fund terrorist organizations!”
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty is not immune from arrest for obstruction of a Federal officer from performance of his duty, which is to take into custody persons without supporting documents that demonstrate the right to be in the United States legally.
All reports crying for the po folk refugee Mexican flag wavers is nothing but lies from their shyster “advocates” and fellow illegal aliens with “birthright” ANCHOR Bambinos being pushed around in baby carriages paid for by the hard working gringos.
He was great on The Kids In The Hall and NewsRadio.
Gov’t law officers should not be charged if the targets are still breathing and throwing bricks and Molotovs.
Carpet muncher.
Ahh, a dyke.
“Mr. Castro is an ICE agent, but his federal badge does not make him immune from state charges for his criminal conduct in Minnesota,” Moriarty said...]
Wanna bet?
Better yet, we should set aside the “qualified immunity” of the Minneapolis Somali cop who killed the unarmed woman a few years back, and charge him federally.
