Trump Admin Investigating US Taxpayer-Funded Biolabs in Over 30 Countries
Newsweek ^ | May 13, 2026 | Joshua Rhett Miller

The Trump administration is probing more than 120 biological laboratories funded by U.S. taxpayers in 30-plus countries in a bid to end potentially dangerous experiments within gain-of-function research, federal officials confirmed Wednesday.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard ordered the investigation following a months-long review of U.S. holdings and files on the Washington-funded biolabs operating overseas, including to uncover specific locations as part of President Donald Trump's executive order in May 2025 to ban all federal funding for gain-of-function research in China or other nations without proper oversight.

"The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the catastrophic global impact research on dangerous pathogens in biolabs can have," Gabbard told Newsweek in a statement Wednesday. "Yet despite these obvious dangers, politicians, so-called health professionals, like Dr. Fauci, and entities within the Biden administration's national security team lied to the American people about the existence of these U.S.-funded and supported biolabs and threatened those who attempted to expose the truth."

When is Fauci going to get a trial like Nuremberg?

Don’t worry. No one is ever going to prison for any of this. Admitting responsibility would open up quintillions of dollars worth of lawsuits.

Stop funding the chicom California biolabs. That would help a bunch.

I’d like to see the specifics. I suspect most are for funding research into location specific problems, such as Chagra’s disease in South America.

However, we have seen enormous amount of fraud and corruption uncovered in such programs.

US funded biolabs ?

When they get around to telling us what was going on in any US funded biolabs in Ukraine, how old will America be?

Fauci should be hanging from a light pole.
I could vote for Tulsi as President if it came up.

Americans shouldn’t be funding any labs outside the US. Period.

Yes, I think you are correct. The CIA has shown itself to be untrustworthy.

USAID was turned into an anti-american slush fund for leftists and the Democratic Party.

Developing the 2028 Hanta-Covid virus.
Shuffling it from lab to lab.

Around 2003 I was sent by my company to inspect/repair a basewide communication system in Cairo, Egypt.

This was a US Naval base, a "medical" facility in Cairo.

What I learned while there was that this was a research facility where they isolated level 5 hot viruses, such as Ebola.

I fixed the problem and was glad to come home....

Thanks for the first person information.

I think there have been viable reasons for such research. It is a terrible shame our government has been hi-jacked by those who hate us for so long.

President Trump is the best President the United States has had since maybe Coolidge. Maybe even earlier.

You’re not the only one.

Back in 2003 I had a job interview at a place which had very high security, where the staff were drilled on checking their cars for surveillance devices or bombs - it wasn’t just espionage they were worried about; they got more bother from militant animal rights nutcases.

All kinds of exotic stuff was securely stored in there.

Samples of a near-unique cancer from an American who died decades ago but whose cells are still replicating even now. Hundreds of labs worldwide have samples from the same “patient zero” and those samples have been used for positive research, not weaponisation.

Various Soviet nasties that were created on Vozrozhdeniya Island (Rebirth Island). Aralsk-7 tested bioweapons based on anthrax, smallpox, plague, brucellosis, and tularemia. There were several accidents on the island; naturally the Soviets covered it all up but samples were taken out of Russia to other labs for analysis.

Samples that were connected to the anthrax contamination of Gruinard Island - Scotland had an incident, but it was nothing compared to what happened on Vozrozhdeniya.

The purposes of the lab I was at, were to contain and develop countermeasures. So, if some loony did repeat the Soviet mistakes, we’d have defences.

Ukrainian biolabs did exist and were US funded but primarily because, after the collapse of the USSR, those labs still existed and no sane person would’ve wanted their contents to become accessible to criminal groups or mercenaries. The Russians were hardly the best people to take charge given the sheer number of biolab accidents that happened in Russia during the Cold War - almost all of which were covered up.
