As we go toward the 2026 midterms, normally, the party out of power - in this case, the Democrats - would have the edge.
But redistricting has made things much closer. On top of that, Democrats still have the problem that the voters don't think very highly of them, as we reported. CNN senior data analyst Harry Enten explained that, in addition to redistricting, which is likely to deliver more seats to Republicans, their generic Congressional ballot numbers have gotten worse since March, and they are now within the margin of error.
Now the AP just dropped a piece about internal conflict among the Democrats titled, "Inside the furor plaguing Democratic National Committee leader Ken Martin."
The internal turmoil sounds pretty bad.
Major donors aren’t giving. Liberal influencers are publicly questioning Martin’s refusal to release an internal report on the party’s failures. And Democratic operatives have begun informal discussions about recruiting a new chair, even as most believe that Martin’s job isn’t in serious jeopardy ahead of the midterm elections.
Amanda Litman, who leads the Democratic-allied organization Run For Something, said she’s been approached by senior strategists in recent days gauging her interest in replacing Martin. She declined but said many in the party have lost faith in the DNC leader.
“I think it’s a really hard job, and also Ken is not doing it very well,” Litman told The Associated Press. “I honestly think he’s going to have a hard time rebuilding trust.”
Oof, don't hold back there. And why would anyone donate, honestly? What do Democrats do, apart from attack President Donald Trump?
According to the report, the disturbance about him is making Martin "increasingly paranoid," even inside party headquarters. And it could make it "harder for them to win in November, while undermining faith in the DNC as it coordinates the party’s next presidential nomination process."
Then there's the big money problem.
The national party reported $22.1 million cash on hand with $18.4 million in debt at the end of March, according to its most recent federal filing. The Republican National Committee, by contrast, reported $116.8 million in the bank with zero debt.
They're arguing that they're spending money on their efforts.
Martin's been trying to raise more money, but it kind of sounds like he's trying to desperately bail out the boat.
Martin has been aggressively courting big-dollar donors, despite their demonstrated reluctance to give to the committee. He acknowledged pressure related to the autopsy in some of the conversations and indicated changes could be coming soon, according to two people with direct knowledge of the discussions but not authorized to share them.
We saw last month that even Congressional Democrats' approval numbers among Democrat voters were bad, and that most Democrat voters don't think their party has the right priorities.
So it's going to be a tough battle for Democrats, and they're leaving open a lot of holes for the Republicans to walk through. Republicans need to go all in and walk through them.
They still have the DEMs leading the House despite the recent (or soon to be) redistricting changes.
Polls are every bit as scientific as the Vax was safe and effective. They are fake to help Dims fundraise.
Bring back Swalwell. That should help.
I know he’s not well-liked around these parts, but I saw a pretty devastating video by Ben Shapiro describing the Democrat’s “bench” going into 2028. Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsome, and AOC. That’s their collection of big stars. Who am I forgetting? Oh yeah, Pete Buttjig. Probably not spelling that quite right. No mention of that Beto guy from Texas; he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.
Does Gov Whitmer of Michigan not have an interest? From a neutral perspective, I’d think she’d do well. Or let me put it this way, I think she would be the toughest candidate the R nominee would face. She’s somebody I hope the Ds don’t nominate.
Here is my take on the mid-term chances for the democrats:
Pro
1. History is on their side ... the president usually loses in the mid-terms.
Con
1. Millions of voters are leaving blue for red. Last number was net 4.5 mm voters changed parties.
2. People are leaving NY, Chicago, LA for Tx, Tenn, Fla, etc.
3. Voting rights act decision by SC means minority districts are breaking up.
4. Redistricting looks like it will yield a net 10-12 new red districts.
5. Money. Democrats are in the hole. Big donors were mad at Kamala campaign for wasting a billion or more. They have said they are reluctant to give to a party that can’t control their finances and wastes all their donations.
6. Case in point - Virginia redistricting election just wasted 60-70 million.
7. Act Blue and other democrats money-laundering schemes, if not totally shut down, have had serious brakes applied. Thus, 5. above.
8. 3 to 5 million illegal aliens deported. Their votes erased.
These things may not be enough to yield a republican mid-term victory, but their chances are better than mainstream media would have you to believe.
Do you mean Gretchen, She Wolf of the SS?
Jews account for 1/2 of Democrat political cash. The increasing Democrat tendency to consider the expulsion of Jews from Israel as bedrock principle is killing Democrat fundraising.
Gov Andy Beshear from Kentucky? Who knows, some Republican office holders or ex office holders may even support him...
Don’t forget many blacks, especially black men, seem to be open to vote Republicans. The Latinos esp from Cuba and Venezuela, and Iranians.
Just means they’ll cheat harder.
That and too many Trump voters will only vote in the presidential election. Then piss and moan when the Dems take over the House and nothing gets done.
Frau Gruppenfuehrer Whitmer

I don’t believe you. They’re giving their money and votes to those who would just as soon see them exterminated. Could that explain why there was a holocaust? Did they learn? Before calling out one as an anti-semite please be advised that being critical of the Jews does not make us one.
...and here in NEW MEXICO we have a Jew running for governor using a cowboy hat as his campaign logo.
Help!

Germany really was in a league of its own in terms of the longevity and virulence of its Jew hatred, although Poland and Ukraine were no slouches. Hitler really did complete a final solution for Germany’s Jews, while his successors are gathering Soviet Jews in Germany so the new Muslim imports can complete the Holocaust in Europe. Many Jews see the writing on the wall and are leaving, either for Israel or the US. For a time, Jews were moving to Germany. This is now going in reverse, though inflow numbers are juiced by Jewish American morons with German Jewish ancestry cosplaying fear of Trump.
I thought it was "Buttplug"?
Handwringing loser bump
What frightens me is voter apathy on the right from people who are comfortable with their lives at the moment and frustration with a republican electorate who’s been kneecapped time and again by the minority, especially the traitor Senator Thulen who refuses to pass the SAVE Act.You know that in addition to every cheating method known to mankind the democrats will have the TDSers storming the polls like the beaches of Normandy with the thought of getting revenge for being beaten in 2024.
