President Donald Trump’s upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping is drawing renewed attention to concerns that Chinese electric vehicles entering North America through Canada could pose national security risks inside the United States.
Gatestone Institute senior fellow Gordon Chang joined FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo on "Mornings with Maria" to discuss tensions surrounding China’s trade practices, energy policy and Beijing’s growing EV footprint ahead of the high-stakes Beijing meeting.
The discussion comes as lawmakers push legislation aimed at blocking Chinese electric vehicles from entering the U.S. market, citing concerns over surveillance technology and connected-vehicle systems capable of collecting sensitive data.

Gordon Chang wrote the book entitled, THE COMING COLLAPSE OF CHINA early this century ( over 20 years ago ), I’m still waiting for his prediction to come true…
You would have thought any backlash from COVID-19 would have done them in. But, nope, no real punishment came from that event.

China has been spying for decades. That is how they build worlds 2nd largest economy in the world. Who says stealing does not pay off?
Could importing Chinese EVs be bad? Yes. Because they spy? No. Not any more than their legions of people already here. (Some may even be running cities in California, but I digress).
The problem is that some of the modern Chinese EVs are actually very good cars. If we need to protect the big 2.5 in their quest to become a world leader in EV production, then yes, by all means keep the Chinese out. If you believe that Joe and Mary Lunchbucket would buy a $20k Chinese electric car instead of an American made car, it would make sense. But are Joe and Mary REALLY in the market for a Chinese Electric car? I understand that economic factors could certainly force some people this way, but I don’t know that it’s a lot.

Most Chinese vehicles are made by companies owned by the Chinese Govt...like Great Wall, SAIC, BAC, JAC. Like buying a Russian car during the Cold War.
That Covid fiasco came from Chapel Hill NC, Fauci, and Eco Health Alliance. They moved the project to Wuhan China to ensure no American rules or oversight could get in their way.
It was deliberately unleashed by China and DC to stop Trump’s first term economy hard, and force mail in ballots. It ruined his presidency.

Oh hell yes they are. The Cheapest thing out there is a Corolla around 25k. Some -very- good Chinese EVs are around 10k. It would be like Volkswagens in the 60s. They would rule the market if allowed in. It’s just a protective tariff, and that’s ok. Reagan did it against Jap motorcycles for a while.
But he didn’t come up with some cheesy national security excuse like they do today.
oh no, don’t get me wrong. I understand the United States had a hand in it, but I just detest the Chinese. They are so sloppy. And arrogant. They say that the lady in charge of the bat virus studies would go home with bad blood and urine all over her shoes. A level four laboratory with safeties, and they were that sloppy and stupid.
I agree. But I think we can believe almost nothing we heard in that first year. It was planned, and released by deep state DC.
Trump was hurting the Chinese BAD with his first term tariffs, and they needed him gone. This relatively minor respiratory virus was released. It was just SARS again.
It just had to be bad enough to scare people. Remember those videos the Chinese were releasing of people dropping dead in the street? Of men in bunny suits spraying entire streets, or welding people’s doors shut? They did all that with the approval of Fauci and his minions. I remember Lindsey Graham on FOX every nights preaching against “wet markets” and bat soup.
It was all BS. The Chinese did their part, but I think it was all deliberate. Trump’s economy was a runaway freight train and he was cruising to easy reelection. DC needed him gone, China needed him gone, the UK and Ukraine needed him gone.
So the bioweapon was released and the world chimed it to kill the economy and lock down the world. Then the Floyd George riots were unleashed on schedule.
I don’t want America to be like China... but I no longer believe it was a sloppy Chinese woman.
I just remember how they lied for months and pretended it was a natural event that came from caves, bat soup, seafood wet markets, etc.
DC and London were the center of the coverup.
When bat soup fell apart, they couldn’t exactly say “hey you caught us, it was deliberate so we could remove Trump for the deep state and China”. That leaves them with one possible story, “Lab leak”. So that’s what they went with....
Lab leak us their fall back lie when they first lie failed.
