Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that the Cuban government turned down a $100 million humanitarian aid offer from the U.S., as the nation continues to grapple with the fallout of a devastating hurricane, a weakened economy and a prolonged fuel shortage.
The U.S. provided $6 million in humanitarian aid to the island’s population in February that was distributed by Caritas, a nonprofit organization tied to the Catholic Church.
The U.S. was prepared to send more, but the Cuban regime was “standing in the way,” according to Rubio, who told reporters in Italy that he discussed the delivery of aid with Pope Leo XIV during a meeting at the Vatican this week.
“We’ve offered the regime there $100 million of humanitarian aid that, unfortunately, so far, they have not agreed to distribute to the people in Cuba,” the secretary of state said. “So, we did the hurricane relief, but we’re offering more, and it’s the regime that’s not accepting it.
“So, we discussed that, and we hope we can do it because we do want to help the people of Cuba, who are being hurt by this incompetent regime that’s destroyed the country and the economy,” Rubio added.

It’s the Cuban government that wants the embargo.
Really? Well so much for DOGE. I guess we were fooled into thinking that program had gravitas.
Notice the scumbags in MSM always puts the word “claims” in front of any Admin quote.
“Really? Well so much for DOGE. I guess we were fooled into thinking that program had gravitas.”
I suspect they are trying to avoid the expense of the alternatives. (A massive exodus to Florida, for example.) We have a representative government. We hire representatives and they hopefully work out what is in our best interests. There are also probably some windows that might be closing, such as the need to deal with whatever the Russians or Chinese are doing to muck up what the US is doing. It’s my thought that Trump is the first president since Reagan that has the interests of the average taxpayer foremost in his mind. Let’s give Trump some latitude.
I wonder what YouTubers Yoel and Mari think of this.
They are Cuban emigrants now living in America.
What happened to the $6 BILLI9N Castro had?
That isn’t a “claim”.
That’s the best one yet.
I leave it to others to debate if that $6 million is well-spent.
But any such discussion should start with this fact: The United States is a debtor nation. So the United States had to borrow that $6 million before spending it.
🙁
We haven’t even deposed the government there yet, and we are actually begging them to take money from us.
God help us when they collapse. We will be flooded with millions of Afro-Cubes and then spend 2 trillion building them new infrastructure, a grid, military bases for us, food aid, etc.
And the Epstein class will feast, building resorts, buying up farmland etc.
America is being positioned for yet -another- solid financial azz-raping.
“Let’s give Trump some latitude.”
Nope... not anymore. He turned out to be an epic con-man who couldn’t care less about the middle class and solely cares about the Adelson, Ellison, Lutnick, Zuckerberg, Palantir/Oracle AI class.
No more latitude. Time for harsh accountability and results where normal Americans come absolutely first.
Poof! like every other commie dick.
The Hill does it again. “...as the nation continues to grapple with the fallout of a devastating hurricane, a weakened economy and a prolonged fuel shortage.” They forgot the biggest contributor to their problems, communism.
“...so far, they have not agreed to distribute to the people in Cuba...”
Even if the agreed to ‘distribute the aid funds, the Cuban People wouldn’t see a dime of it.
“...solely cares about the Adelson, Ellison, Lutnick, Zuckerberg, Palantir/Oracle AI class.”
In WWII (or World War Eleven if you’re a Democrat) Henry Kaiser approached the Navy with an idea for cheaply built light escort carriers. The Navy turned him down flat. So, he called up FDR who took the call, made his presentation and FDR ordered the Navy to buy the carriers. This happened a lot. Men like Howard Hughes and other millionaire industrialists had access and made sales to the government by going around the usual bureaucrats. These men were the hated Zuckerberg and Ellison types of their time. I suspect, had you been around then, you’d have been just as outraged that FDR cared more about the millionaire industrialists than he did about the average Joe. The point is, what these people have to say and who say it to matters. Trump recently said that Palantir was knocking it out of the park when it came to locating targets in Iran using their AI. This is important. Really important. FDR said similar things about men like Andrew Higgens, who produced landing craft and PT boats. Let’s pour on the hate...Oh, wait. Those men significantly shortened the war and arguably saved a lot of average Joe’s.
It’s hard to see the whole picture when all we really see is hate filled, biased media created by a class of America hating socialist graduates of ivy league schools.
Why, when people are having struggles here in America, do we keep handing out hard earned taxpayer money to a bunch of commies?
Time to put Americans First.
