WASHINGTON — A massive gilded statue of President Donald Trump installed at his Miami golf course is definitely not a “golden calf” to be worshipped, the pastor who led a dedication ceremony for the eyebrow-raising effigy insisted Friday.
Financed by cryptocurrency entrepreneurs and supporters of Trump, the 15-foot (4.6-meter) tall bronze statue is covered in gold leaf — a favorite style of the president — and its fate had been uncertain as its creator awaited final payment for months.
But the “Don Colossus” statue, which depicts Trump raising his fist after surviving an assassination attempt in 2024, was finally unveiled Wednesday at Trump National Doral.
Televangelist Mark Burns, an ally of the 79-year-old billionaire president who led the dedication ceremony, quickly sought to get ahead of any claims of idol worship — which is expressly forbidden in the Ten Commandments.
“Let me say this plainly: this is not a golden calf,” he said later that night on X, referring to the Old Testament idol that famously made Moses irate after he received the Commandments.

Watched the video. It’s not as ludicrous as I feared; but I wish people would do these things posthumously after a respectful lapse of time, to first let the crazies attach like ticks to some other mania.

The story of the Golden Calf is one of the most widely known stories of the Old Testament.
Likewise the story of Nebuchadnezzar's golden statue from the Book of Daniel.
You're kidding yourself if you think that's not one of the first things that comes to mind when people see a golden statue unveiled of a still living President.

One the one hand, a person who wants a golden statue of themself is narcissistic. As such, find an example of one in the bible and see what G-d thinks. One the other hand, I did not vote for Trump to lead any church or religion (he’s not the national pastor), so I do not expect him to be one whom I’d want to do that. So, politically do I care about a statue I think is otherwise wrong? No.
The fact that these types of things drive the crazies crazy motivates me to like it. I’m sure they feel the same way about me. Otto Penn made jokes about Let’s Go Brandon. Ubama did his fake accents and dialects. Clinton flashes his sh*t-eating grin. Both sides do and say things to annoy each because they get off on annoying each other. Actually, until Trump started trolling Communists, our side never engaged in such things. A lot of good that did us.
Your eyes are closed if you don’t see the Christian world denouncing this. They are everywhere, calling him a false prophet to the anti-Christ. They call those of us who defend him, worshipers and not supporters. My wife and I fight it every day. We constantly say Christ is my Savior, Trump is my President.
