President Donald Trump said Thursday that retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets were “just a love tap." The strikes came as U.S. Central Command said Iranian forces “launched multiple missiles, drones and small boats” while the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

US airstrikes hit tankers trying to break blockade of Iranian ports, official says
The U.S. military carried out airstrikes Friday on several tankers trying to run the blockade on Iranian ports, a U.S. official told Fox News.
The official said “these were Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC)... massive, empty ships trying to make it back to Iran” and that they “attempted to run the blockade.”
The official added that several tankers were hit.
These empty oil tankers could have been trying to make it back to Iran to buy more time for oil storage.
Foundation for Defense of Democracies senior fellow Miad Maleki told Fox News earlier this week that Iran only has 13 days worth of traditional oil storage, but has been buying more time using empty oil tankers for storage.
“They have a few days of the onshore storage capacity left, and then another 30 to 45 days of tankers to fill up,” Maleki said.
That’ll be good for another fifty cents at the pump…

We attended the commissioning of the USS Mason. Awesome ship. Getting kinda old now but still delivering! 🇺🇸
Set up a video link in the negotiating room and make them watch us blow stuff up until they say “uncle”,
Love tap! Greatest one-liner since Reagan.
I haven’t done any research on oil production, but I’m pretty sure producers are rising to the challenge, there’s too much money to be made so the hole left by the closure of the straight of Straight of Hormuz will be filled soon.
“Love tap”!!! Love it!
Feels like an empty threat.
Is that driven by speculation or actual shortages?
Iran has demonstrated that with its missiles, drones and small boats, it still has the capability to disrupt traffic through the strait of hormuz despite the American military presence. Underscores the grim fact that if this war is to be concluded satisfactorily ( mullah regime change and the securing of the enriched uranium) it cannot be done solely with air and sea power. It will take hard ground fighting and more extensive logistics. If this inconclusive situation continues and the mullah regime survives, the 9/11 duplicitous Saudis and the Gulf states will make their own accomadations with Iran. History and the American people will rightly regard this war a failure. What is worse, the demonic, America hating Democrats will ride the backlash to power. Then the American people and the American nation will really suffer.
We call it a “tune-up”.
Funny that gragh dosn’t go back to 2020. But I guess that wold not fit the narative of your TDS.
“The 2026 elections should be interesting”
There was a few days ago $166 billion in tariff money that is now being sent out to importers, which will be windfall profits for almost all.
Congress could levy a special tariff refund windfall profits tax at 100% and then pass that money on to insured drivers.
You still might be able to get $500 by calling your Congressman/Congresswoman/[Delaware?].
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country…”
What is happening in the Persian golf right now should’ve happened decades ago, not months ago. We have a President who is less concerned with being reelected, and more concerned with doing what is right, not only for this country, but an ungrateful global community in general.
The fact that there are so many people in our Republic today who are deterred from doing what is right and just, not by bloody footprints in the snow, or a series of defeats on a battlefield, but by the prospect of higher gasoline prices, or the fear of a defeat in midterm elections defined exactly the kind of modern “Summer Soldiers” and “Sunshine Patriots” that we see both on this forum, and in the modern world today.
They are the kinds of kind of “soldiers” who would turn and run not at the approach of a glistening steel bayonet on the end of a barrel of a Brown Bess musket, but at the mere prospect of a gas station sign being changed upwards by a gas station employee.
Another statistical trick of course is using a non zero baseline to make the rise seem more dramatic. In this case the baseline is $50.
“Iran has demonstrated that with its missiles, drones and small boats, it still has the capability to disrupt traffic through the strait of hormuz despite the American military presence.”
Why are we spending hundreds of billions yearly for a navy that allegedly can’t reliably defend large ships from ragtag, raghead boaters?
