TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. forces intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with self-defense strikes as U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman, May 7.
Iranian forces launched multiple missiles, drones and small boats as USS Truxtun (DDG 103), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), and USS Mason (DDG 87) transited the international sea passage. No U.S. assets were struck.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for attacking U.S. forces including missile and drone launch sites; command and control locations; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance nodes.
CENTCOM does not seek escalation but remains positioned and ready to protect American forces.
Yep, we hit them hard tonight.
Looks like it's on again.
bump
at this point the iranian “leadership” is just dicking us around. They understand boom boom so there you go.
They always have been.
Their moon god says it is okay to lie.
Not holding my breath.
Just give peace a chance. Give it time. Trust Trump’s plan. You don’t understand 8d chess. Read “The Art of the Deal to pass time and only then you may be able to understand only a part of Trump’s greatness and a little bit of how he thinks.
Trump is great.
Nah, Trump says this was just a “love tap” and the “ceasefire” holds.
This is the tactic the SwiftBoats did in nam. Travel the rivers and tribs, draw fire - gunships and planes shot and burned it down. It was effective.
The best defense is offense
Is that warm rain on your back?
Come on GOP BOTS.
Only 11 posts on your thread.
Try harder.😂
How are the pizza orders going tonight in the DC area?
Well, I much prefer this response to Tuesday’s non-response to missiles being fired at our ships. I’d prefer that the response be a little more disproportionate, but certainly this was better than before. Still, Iran can absorb these losses, and since Trump seems to be unwilling to restart the war on a large scale, they believe they can win.
I don’t think Iran is going to surrender to a half-assed air campaign.
Trump doesn’t have the political backing to do more than a half-assed campaign.
The War Powers resolution was passed to stop the President from slow walking the nation into war without the support of Congress.
His second term has been foundered on another stupid middle eastern war that in the end doesn’t benefit this nation at all.
Next he’ll support amnesty and we’ll see how many around here flip in support of it.
A proper response would be this, roughly doubled, plus whatever support the Emiratis, etc., need to take out an Iranian refinery’s distillation tower(s), a major refined products storage facility, and an import terminal. The Iranians do not have a lot of those, and the distillation towers in particular cannot be easily hidden. These are easy targets.
Focusing the attack leaves crude oil pretty much alone, at least for now.
Iran without refined products is helpless. EV’s have under 1% penetration in Iran’s transportation system.
An argument against such a response is that Iran will in return hit Gulf States’ oil infrastructure. But in fact, Iran has continued to attack Gulf States’ oil infrastructure anyway.
Good. This is the correct response. Lull them into lighting up their launch sites, then we really light them up.
