Polls opened Thursday for millions of Britons in a series of races set to heap more pressure on beleaguered Prime Minister Keir Starmer and showcase the rise of hard-right and left-wing populist parties, both of which face accusations of antisemitism and bigotry at a time when Jews in the UK are under increasing threat.
Voters across Scotland, England and Wales head to the ballot box in Starmer’s biggest electoral test since his July 2024 general election landslide victory ended 14 years of Conservative rule.
Opinion polls predict grim results for Labour, which could amplify calls for Starmer, 63, to resign or finally face a long-rumored party leadership challenge.
Nigel Farage’s anti-immigrant Reform UK and the left-wing Greens, led by self-described eco-populist Zack Polanski, are expected to be the main beneficiaries of widespread disillusionment.

Who is the candidate from the very silly Party?
My several Jewish British Friends are all voting Reform!
They were prophetic.
L
I can only hope enough other do also.
That is the Green Party leader Zack Polanski. He is genuinely stark raving mad.
On Wikipedia they have Nigel Farage listed as the leader of the British Union of Fascists party under the heading “2026 United Kingdom local elections”.
Outrageous!
Good luck sir.
hard-right and left-wing populist parties
Leading the anti-semitic charge is and has been Labour. The farther left ya go, the more ya find.
The Green party’s Muslim candidates are the worse of the worse
Now it's going to be Green and Reform.

Outrageous indeed. Farage is the antithesis of a fascist.
1. He only turned up at work in Brussels to collect the pay check and expenses, while never doing any work.
2. Ditto since being the MP for Clacton; he’s spent more time in the USA hobnobbing with MAGA than he’s spent in the constituency he was elected to represent.
3. He’s been connected to more political “parties” in Britain than literally anyone else in politics.
Conservative (1978–1992)
Voted for the Green Party in 1989
Anti-Federalist League (1992–1993)
UKIP (1993–2018)
Independent (2018–2019)
Brexit Party (2019-2021)
Reform UK (2021–present)
Reform Party won multiple seats in the county of Kent a few years back but all that did was prove to a lot of people that their ideological fixations don’t translate to competence. In my home town, one of those guys quit not that long after being elected because, basically, he didn’t realise that being in local government involved doing some actual work.
