California’s largest home insurance company tore into state regulators Monday as it faces potential multi-million dollar fines and a suspension of its license.
“Wildfire survivors deserve real solutions — not a distorted picture of State Farm’s response. We strongly disagree with the Department’s characterization,” State Farm General Insurance Company said in a statement.
The lengthy, strongly worded response came within hours of the state of California issuing a damning verdict following an investigation into the company’s handling of customer claims after the 2025 wildfires. “The threat to suspend State Farm General’s ability to serve customers over primarily administrative and procedural errors is a reckless, politically motivated attack that could ultimately cripple California’s homeowners insurance market,” the insurance giant, which insures over a million in California, said.

Just pull out of California entirely.
L
Who do you root for in in this one? LOL!
State Farm is the devil.
State Farm? Stop insuring California! Duh.
“Who do you root for in in this one? LOL!”
Why would you ask?
The negligence, incompetence and malfeasance of the California state and local government is staggering.
It crosses the line to criminality
State Farm is the devil.
Most of your hate is media driven.....................
“ Who do you root for in in this one? LOL!”
This is one of those situations where it’s too bad that both of them can’t lose.
What PG&E has done seems like criminality.
Adam Carolla. His take on the fires and rebuilding pretty much sums it up. California sucks. Getting insurance to pay sucks. Any one trying to do business in California is an idiot. IMO.
Nope.
“Why would you ask?”
I don’t know...the evil of the California government verse the indifference of State Farm...
Lost my house to fire 20 years ago. Not my fault. State Farm paid, but they admitted we were under insured. At several points in month that followed they made statement to us about the amount of money that we were to receive, only to attempt to lower that amount later. They did, eventually, make full payment.
We moved to another state to start over. Bought a new construction house with the proceeds. Contacted State Farm to insure it. They refused.
So you think every business should pull out of California, from software companies, to fast food, to cable and movies?
State Farm will have to pay multi millions because California didn’t provide working hydrants to put out the fires. If their underwriting was given that nugget of info they wouldn’t have insured the homes.
Allstate is the devil, too................
No stay there and pay taxes. Stay the hell away from my state. You’ve already proven you elect idiots. Don’t spread the cancer.
You left out too many details which leaves your post lacking in convincibility.
I have 2 houses in a wildfire area in SoCal, State Farms insures and they only raised my rates a little bit last year. A lot op people around here got priced out, insurers wanted $10,000-$20,000 for homeowners. One friend got a renewal estimate for $65,000. Needless to say they no longer have insurance
We had a severe hailstorm here April of 2025. All the locals who had State Farm were stiffed on their coverage. Obvious damage claims for roofs and cars were denied. It was a big stink since we are such a small, close-knit town. The local agent caught hell from some irate grannies and grand paws. Had to get the state involved to sort it out.
