THEY SHUT IT DOWN.
WE BUILD IT BACK.
Spirit didn't fail because people stopped flying. It failed because Wall Street loaded it with debt and extracted every dollar it could. The routes are real. The demand is real. The only thing missing is ownership that answers to the people — not to shareholders.
01
THE COLLAPSE
At 3:00 AM on May 2nd, 2026, Spirit Airlines ceased all operations. Flights cancelled. Gates closed. 44 million annual passengers left without their airline. The assets — planes, routes, slots, brand — are available right now. The window is open.
02
THE GREEN BAY MODEL
The Green Bay Packers are the only community-owned franchise in the NFL. 360,000 ordinary people own shares. No billionaire can move the team. No hedge fund can gut it for parts. Spirit 2.0 is that model — applied to aviation, for the first time in American history.
03
YOUR TICKET = YOUR SHARE
The minimum pledge is $45 — the average price of a one-way Spirit ticket. You've already paid to fly on this airline. Now you can help own it. Every dollar pledged is a vote against private equity and a vote for an airline that answers to its people.

Stopped reading there.
It failed because it was the lowest common denominator in a business model that has every customer dissatisfied and thinking they paid too much when they didn’t pay enough.
Burning the turd at both ends.
And why will this be successful when the current management wasn’t?
Sort of reminds me of that movie "Soul Plane"
I only tried to fly once with those guys. They ripped me off.
RIP....
Yup…“Wallstreet” forced them to over leverage their debt on a bad business model. Those bastards forced themselves on the altruistic leaders of Spirit Air. //sarc
I can't think of any really skanky mainstream airline. Way back in the old days I liked Eastern and Delta, and I liked American for a while. The landscape changes so fast. They are all equally crummy now. Glad I'm retired.
“Glad I’m retired.”
Totally Ditto...
I liked NE, Eastern and NWA.
SW was OK until now they have assigned seats.
I found that I liked to sit in the back [last to the scene of the crash..] and always got a seat that suited me.
I also liked Lake Central and Allegheny...
Im not exactly someone that would know much about these sort of things but it seems that there has to be a bit more to it or it would happen all the time.
When the soda companies moved to HFCS why didnt we all throw a dollar or two into a pot and make something that tasted better? Hollywood has been little more than vile trash for decades, we should have all thrown $5 in to start a new studio and even a TV station or two? The auto industry has been selling high priced trash for years. Why didnt we all just throw $10 in to the pot and start a new company?
Im having a hard time believing that in this day and age that “its just to hard to keep track” or something like that . Somewhere in the finance regulations there has to be some sort of block it seems.
No? Someone jump in and tell me.
Let the liberal inner cities buy it for a personal airline.
Civilized travelers on other airlines will appreciate it.
Precisely and they are actually trying to blame Trump. Planes filled with gimme dats. Surprised it lasted as long as it did.
Some people go so far to the right that they end up on the left.
Unless they accept EBT cards no one will buy it.
Change the name to Freeper Air. Will Yogi be the boss?
The other airlines are already devouring it carcus. They are reaching out to pilots and other valuable employees offering jobs.
