Calls are growing for California’s high-speed rail to be abandoned completely after revelations the estimated cost of completing Gavin Newsom’s fantasy train project has ballooned to a staggering $231 billion.
The latest cost revisions for the project — revealed during a Senate Transportation Committee meeting — left lawmakers fuming after the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office flagged numerous concerns.
State Sen. Tony Strickland, vice chair of the STC, said the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s plan continues to obscure true costs — and now he’s calling for the entire project to be scrapped.

How much loot was wasted and is now not recoverable? Just wondering.
The money went somewhere. How many people were paid for “environmental studies”?
Is this bad enough for Sacramento to impeach the governor?
Hey, the price of graft and corruption has really gone up!
As if ruining California was not enough? What makes you think anything better awaits the entire country? Stick with artichokes, baby chokes, they are short now.
Willie Green has a sad.

Just because the price of a project has gone up 7.5 times its original estimate is no cause for concern.
Average of $289 million per mile, and that’s the lowest estimate based on the original plan for an 800-mile network.
This California high-speed rail bridge reportedly costs $1 billion, and connects to nothing. That $1 billion is gone.
Unless someone wants to buy it, and turn it into a really long bocce court.
Why can’t more Windmills and Solar “Farms” drastically lower the costs?
Why is it curved when the adjacent track is straight [”tangent”]?
I bet Trump could build it in a year at 10% of that
Federal marshals need to seize Sacramento and place the governor and entire legislature under arrest.
Just shy of a quarter of a TRILLION dollars.......DAMN!
That’s what I want to know. Who was paid and for what? Specific details, individuals, businesses released and not just vague general catagories.
Last I heard we’ve already spent $18 BILLION in 18 years without a single track being laid.
I remember Diane Feinstein’s husband got a billion dollar no-bid contract. For what I couldn’t say.
For that much money we could build 17 Ford class CVNs with enough left over for lunch.
This was nothing more than a loan with no payback to boost the Calamari economy.
