Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., on Monday unveiled a proposed slate of congressional district maps that would see the state net four-Republican leaning seats.
The map, first reported by Fox News, would limit Democratic seats to Orlando, and three isolated urban bubbles along the southeastern coast.
Florida currently has 20 Republican seats and 8 Democratic seats. The new map would shift the balance to 24 Republicans and 4 Democrats.
The move comes in the wake of the Virginia redistricting referendum, which saw voters approve a plan that would shift Virginia from 6 Democrats and 5 Republicans to 10 Democrats and 1 Republican.

Democrats hate it when we use the same rules. They are not used to that sort of retribution. Get used to it.
As a longtime Florida Republican, I delight in the prospect of the Dems in my home state finally getting justly and comprehensively kick stomped to the ground.
As a Virginian I say: “avenge me!”
It’s too bad that the Indiana GOP wimped out. I hope all the RINOs lose their reelection bids.
While I hope the redistricting stands, count on the rats to contest based on the idiotic “Fair Districts Amendments” in 2010 which amended the state constitution to ban drawing congressional districts with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party or incumbent.
Wow. DeSantis wiped out the Tallahassee Democrat stronghold. But he did leave the Communist stronghold at Gainesville which happens to be the location of the University of Florida.
