UK to pay France another £660m to curb Channel crossings

The UK government has agreed to pay France another £660m to curb the number of asylum seekers travelling across the Channel, including plans to fund a riot squad to “contain and disperse” people trying to board small boats.

Under a three-year deal to be signed on Thursday by the home secretary, Shabana Mahmood, 1,100 enforcement, intelligence and military officers – an increase of 40% – will be employed to track down smuggling gangs and people seeking refuge.

A 50-strong riot squad will be trained in “crowd-control tactics” and will “stop illegal migrants in their tracks”, according to the Home Office. UK cash is expected to fund batons, shields and teargas to deal with “hostile crowds and violent tactics”.

The announcement follows protracted negotiations between the two countries over how to halt unauthorised small boat journeys, and who should pick up most of the cost. The previous £478m, three-year deal collapsed on 31 March.

Organisations representing asylum seekers said plans to fund policing tactics such as riot control would mean the further brutalisation of people who have no alternative if they wish to seek refuge in the UK.

Sile Reynolds, head of asylum advocacy at the charity Freedom from Torture, said it was a “deeply alarming” escalation, adding: “Now, we will be paying for police boots and batons to be wielded indiscriminately against men, women and children on the beaches of northern France for the crime of seeking safety.

An easier solution would be to let them get in the boats and then sink them when they are halfway across.

They can’t claim they’re refugees if they’re “fleeing” France.

No. It’s more movement of money so various hands can take their share of the grift ... and no boats will be prevented from going across the channel.

How about just sending everyone home instead of giving them room and board when they arrive? Did Brits ever think of that?

I guess the Brits didn’t notice their payments have failed to slow the invasion. The French are most likely recruiting migrants to send over so the Brits keep the gravy train flowing.

I think you nailed it and just the kind thing the French would do and just kind of that idiot Starmer would fall for. The best part is the fact that the hordes keep pouring in despite the millions paid to stop it.

That’s pretty sad when you have to bribe the surrender monkeys to do the job you refuse to do.

I asked my friend in Ireland about the situation there and got this:

People are raging and worse it is getting. It’s been a slowly building … Our cost of living has gone unbearable for many. Gas is around 13 or 14 dollars a gallon if you were to put it in dollars 65 % of that is government tax then there is home heating oil - that has doubled then there is a housing crisis for Irish. But immigrants get immediately given government housing while our homeless and violent crime skyrocket - meanwhile more Irish young people leave.

We are over run with Muslims and that shit is getting real. Women are not safe kids are not safe here anymore but nothing is being done about it… so the people have begun protesting which lead to blockades when our government refused to talk with the farmers and truckers…

The protesters blocked the ports and our fuel storage areas. We had one weekend when there wasn’t any gas in any of the stations in the west. Government sent in the army instead of talking and then the riot squads and they used pepper spray which has been illegal and has never been used before and for the army and cops to do that to their own people just enraged public at large to a new level… so fuel is flowing again but we have rolling blockades and go slow protest all around the motorways country wide.

This Saturday will be another protest and if the numbers get big enough the president has to dissolve the government and hold elections- they were cute last weekend and shut down the train and bus stations in Dublin to stop the country folk from coming into the city…. The Irish are re organising and will protest again this weekend.

Northern Ireland has kicked off again but this time it is focused against the invasion of illegal boat men coming in. Britain as we knew it is gone… the Irish won’t be occupied again and are starting to fight back.
