Iran insisted its uranium was “not going anywhere” despite Donald Trump claiming a deal had been struck for the US to remove the nuclear material.
The US president told Reuters that he would work with the Iranian leadership to extract the radioactive element from the country at a “nice leisurely pace” before taking it back to America.
But Iran’s foreign ministry rejected Mr Trump’s claim, insisting that no such deal existed.
“Iran’s enriched uranium is not going to be transferred anywhere,” Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry, said.
Tehran officials also denied Mr Trump’s suggestion that the Islamic Republic had agreed to an “unlimited” suspension of its nuclear programme.
A senior Iranian diplomat said that significant differences still remained between Tehran and Washington, including on the issue of the enriched uranium. Mr Trump said a deal was close and he expected it to be signed “in a day or two”.
The disagreement echoed similar differences over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after Mr Trump insisted on continuing a US naval blockade, which Iran said would render the deal “null and void”.

How do you know when an Iranian official is lying?
When his lips move.
It’s ok, there is plenty of room left beside The “Supreme Leader”. The eventually you take out the first born sons
They could tell President Trump: “We will send the Uranium to Uranus”.
I hope we have a sense of humor but sometimes I doubt that.
There appear to be several "officials" lately claiming to be "spokesmen" for Iran, saying various things to the media. They need to settle on one, or we need to make them settle on one. Or else.
I think the mushroom cloud is really what some folks want here.
Well, okay then. This gives Trump three options to choose from.
1. Continue with the bombing. Such a strategy alone didn’t bring Germany to its knees in WW2. So I doubt that it would work here. But you never know.
2. Negotiate. Iran gives up its nuclear ambitions. In return, we give up a lot.
3. Simply declare victory, and call it a day.
Sometimes…sometimes I just get the feeling that the Iranians don’t negotiate in good faith.
When Trump does Option 3 we make money on Wall Street folks.
To paraphrase Lucky Ned Pepper: “thats bold talk for a one legged gay man!”
3.....
As in the Middle Ages when one knight said to the other knight, let’s call it a day.
Funny. Somebody on NewsMax said “Like a guy with one leg trying to win an ass kicking contest” then apologized to people with one leg.
One important and difficult to answer question:
Who’s really in charge in Iran? Is there anyone or any organization that can really negotiate meaningfully.
It is a little silly to compare Iran to Germany. Didn’t work on Germany, so won’t work on Iran is a specious argument. And you ignore the current strategy, just continue the blockade, and let them implode economically.
And they should lose Qshem permanently.
Get ready for the bombing. Hegseth is salivating at the prospect. I’ve never seen anyone so giddy about war and mass destruction.
Then play shall resume:
> As in the Middle Ages when one knight said to the other knight, let’s call it a day. <
Or in the American Midwest, before the arrival of the White Eyes.
Touch an enemy, and you have “counted coup”. A bravery point is awarded to you. Now let’s all go back to hunting buffalo, fishing in the river, and such.
Giddy? Salivating? You should write for NPR or Democracy Now
