On Day 37 of Operation Epic Fury, U.S. special forces carried out a daring rescue mission after an F-15E Strike Eagle Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) was shot down deep inside Iran. The operation unfolded in the harsh terrain of the Zagros Mountains near Dehdasht, pushing elite units to their limits.
This high-stakes combat search and rescue (CSAR) mission brought together Night Stalkers flying Little Birds, Air Force Pararescuemen (PJs), DEVGRU operators, A-10 Warthogs, MQ-9 Reapers, and the highly secretive 427th Special Operations Squadron’s C-295W. Facing intense enemy fire, they fought through a major firefight to reach and extract the downed colonel.
In the end, the mission was a success—President Trump declared, “WE GOT HIM!”—with no American casualties, marking it as one of the boldest behind-enemy-lines rescues in modern U.S. military history. A true example of the “leave no one behind” doctrine.

First I heard of it. 😊👍. Tx.
All due respect to Trump, but the rescue of 500 US POWs from the Cabanatuan camp in Bataan, Philipines, is still the all-time most daring rescue ever.
A LOT of folks know no history. 👍
I didn’t know about it, but saw the movie on Netflix right after the rescue op in Iran, and there’s simply no comparison. Newly-trained Rangers, hopelessly outnumbered and ill-equipped, totally aces an impossible feat like that on their first mission. Impressive.
But the Iranian op was also one for the records.
We don’t know the details yet but that Venezuela snatch on the surface appears to be one of the greatest ever.

Operation Halyard in WWII was another one as daring. The 15th Air Force and Chetniks set up a clandestine air strip in German occupied Serbia. Cargo planes landed under P-38 and P-51 cover and evacuated 500 US Airmen from right under the noses of the Krauts.
“Krauts” is a racist term. You’re exhibiting Nazi-phobia!D
AI.
Published a bunch in just two weeks of that account being up.
That was a fantastic rescue, but I believe the real story of BAT-21 and the rescue of Iceal Hamilton by Navy SEAL Tom Norris an even more daring rescue.
Norris was awarded the MOH for his actions
I have no idea why they didn’t tell the real story of BAT-21 in the movie, its significantly better
Yeah, I figured it was AI, but it seems factual, and settles several disputed points in an argument that I had earlier in this forum.
Do you have a link to the full story? I love successful rescue stories. Entebbe, BAT-21, et al., are much better for the soul than a recount of Jimmuh’s disastrous attempt to rescue the hostages, or Brandon’s Afghanistan mis-adventure.
Old news. I’m just waiting for the movie now. ;-)
Any Iranians that dare watch the movie, will be murdered immediately by the IRGC, which will leave Iran with no people whatsoever.
The IRGC will soon be meeting the Immortal Guard and the rightiously angry Iranian people. They will not survive.
