Hegseth’s ‘paranoia’ over being replaced explains purge of top general — as ally emerges for Army secretary’s role

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s “paranoia” about Army Secretary Dan Driscoll taking his job fueled the firing of the Army’s top general, current and former administration officials tell The Post — as a top contender emerges to replace Driscoll if he’s canned next.

Hegseth on Thursday demanded the resignation of Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George’s — Driscoll’s top aide — in the middle of the Iran war for reasons that were not publicly stated, following months of mounting tensions with Driscoll.

“This is all driven by the insecurity and paranoia that Pete has developed since Signalgate. Unfortunately, it is stoked by some of his closest aides who should be trying to calm the waters,” an administration official said, referencing Hegseth’s March 2025 military group chat with top national security officials that inadvertently added a reporter.

Hegseth has done a better job of housecleaning than most. Every cabinet member should have fired a lot of people. Lots of housecleaning was needed. As far as I can tell, DOJ and the FBI did not do nearly enough firing. That’s a leadership failure.

ridiculous nonsense: firing a general doesn’t stop President Trump from appointing said fired general as DoW Secretary should President Trump desire such an appointment ...

An important lesson here.

A lot of what people attribute to “political differences” is really frustrated personal ambition, personal rivalries, personal revenge, bureaucratic manoeuvering.

Just think for a minute about “who” is leaking for this story and you can see it.

The guy was a Biden appointee. On this basis alone, he needed to go.

When you get to the Pentagon level of the military, you have no friends. It’s watch your back and every person for themselves. You can have partners when you have similar goals but never count on that person at crunch time.

I am really so sick of the transparently bull shit media propaganda.

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is active duty military.

In order to be qualified to be Defense Secretary any military officer has to have been out of the military for at least 7 years . While there is an exemption for national emergencies, there is very little chance that Army Secretary Dan Driscoll was ever going to replace Hegseth.

Reporters really are whores - they are there to get used. Whores pretend to enjoy it and media pretend to be dispassionate bystanders.

I read an article this afternoon that said George ignored multiple requests from a wounded service member for help with benefits. No action until she got others involved. Sounds like perfumed princes telling the troops to eat cake, and Hegseth got wind of it.

Probably more likely this General was brought up & promoted via Obama and Biden and believed in trans bullcrap and DEI.

Also probably didn’t like the idea of allowing soldiers to carry guns on base.

Also a general can’t be SecDef. So by forcing him out he’d actually make it so he can replace him...with a waiver.

This article is pure trash.

My friends does anybody here see an element of Trump in him? You know. Loose cannon. Critics jumping in his $hit. Like all cabinet secretaries he’s more available to the press than others in administrations past.

What I’m saying is think of him in ‘28.

Driscoll left “active duty” in 2011.

If they don’t name the sources of this “information”, then this is nothing more than corrupt media pushing traitor staff opinions. The Leftist media loves this game and they are never held accountable for their lies.
