Gen Kellogg says NATO allies are 'cowards,' calls for new defense alliance

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg said NATO may need to be replaced, arguing the organization has shown itself to be "cowards" and ineffective during the conflict with Iran.

In an appearance Wednesday on "Hannity," Kellogg blasted NATO allies over their failure to address the conflict in Iran. He suggested the United States may benefit from different defensive partners.

"NATO's turn[ing] [out] to be cowards," Kellogg said.

"Maybe we need to have a new NATO, a new defensive establishment."

He pointed to Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which states that any party may leave NATO one year after providing notice of denunciation, as a way out.

Kellogg then suggested alternative alliance structures.

The thing that always screws us over is having those alliances where you basically promise to defend someone if they’re attacked. That has gotten us in there so much trouble over the decades. Gotta put an end to that. I don’t mind trading with someone and making money off of them, but people are going to have to start taking care of themselves.

Silly old Uke-centered fool. We combined with a non-NATO member, Israel, and conducted a sneak attack and a wave of assassinations to start a new war. NATO was not included....then after it’s in full swing, and it didn’t go like Venezuela, we get rad faced and freak out that NATO didn’t join in.

We didn’t loop them in.

Trump has spent a year insulting them.

They all have restive moslem populations.

The real question is who would have expected them to join in?

Americans going to war with China over Taiwan doesn’t sound likely, but then neither does the idea of Americans doing so for Latvia.

Don’t know about the “coward” bit, but out NATO allies have simply become accustomed to our taking care of their problems and expect, demand it to continue.

In 1950, it made sense. Today the Russians have zero interest in Europe. After the wall fell, the force we faced demobilized by a full 90%. It never started to get active until we attacked in Ukraine and it has shown no moves beyond repelling the Banderists and Euros pushing east.

NATO should have disbanded in 1992 or so...

This is why Canada needs to get out of NATO.

What little deployable military we have is part of the “tripwire” force in Latvia.

Canada out of NATO now !

“Restive”? Kind of a euphemistic outlook.
They’re raping women, rioting, mowing people over, instituting sharia law, creating no-go zones and taking over the frickin’ governments.

Yeah, you’re just giving welfare checks to the aliens in the cantina scene of Star wars, so they can buy their hookers and suv’s. Write a check to Premier Mgbutu “Jimmy” Jambo or whatever the hell the head guy’s name is. The chief grifter.

Probably should have just closed the entire thing down after the Cold War. Maybe cut back how much money we pump into it

We should slash our NATO presence by a lot. We should take our financial contribution down to match Spain’s to the penny.

yours: “we conducted a sneak attack and a wave of assassinations to start a new war...”

mine: hardly a sneak attack.....it was announced and made visible for weeks in advance and broadcast as a likely event through the world media as response to all the Iranian and their proxy attacks and threats

the assassinations save tons of lives (and are just amazing too!)... cut off the head of the snake and you can avoid inflicting many many many more casualties among the population as occurs in most regular wars

we live in a real world. Iran was preparing to nuke USA as its socalled Great Satan but... had only progressed far enough to nuke UK, France, and the rest of Europe...at least with its ICBM development program. And, Europe uses Gulf oil while USA doesn’t.
Europe had two vital, existential reasons to assist with our effort. Instead, UK, France, Spain, and to a degree even Italy sought to impede and backstab USA.
At the very least, they proved themselves to be completely unreliable allies. If they refuse to help themselves and given how they backstabbed USA instead of being at our back.........we definitely need to shed them for some more reliable allies.

Cowardice and betrayal of the US by those NATO countries whose loyalty lies with the European banking cartels because they hate President Trump. Trump is an obvious threat to their NWO reset plan. Just my opinion.

The modern NATO alliance is not much different from the USA being invited to a Roman gay bath house party. We better be smart enough to decline.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an intergovernmental military alliance established in 1949 to guarantee the freedom, security, and collective defense of its member nations. Its core purpose is to prevent conflict through deterrence, promote democratic values, and ensure security via political and military means, with a foundational principle that an attack against one member is an attack against all. By countries refusing to step in either putting political of military support for deterrence they have removed themselves from the active part of what the organization was founded for. And by doing so has offered support for organizations attempting against peace and the safety of the area by putting countries around Iran at risk to include countries NATO maintains close partnerships with several Middle Eastern nations through the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) and Mediterranean Dialogue, engaging in security cooperation and dialogue with countries like Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Jordan.

At this point, the organization has taken itself off line and no longer attempts to follow its founding reasons. The US should step out of it.
