Alberta’s push for independence reached a major milestone Monday after organizers announced they have surpassed the 177,000 signatures required to trigger a provincial referendum.

The petition’s success means Albertans are now on track to vote on independence on October 19, marking a historic moment in the province’s political landscape.

There isn’t a single poll indicating a majority for independence.

Fine, let it be a shot across the bow in Ottawa. After Ontario, Alberta contributes the most to the Canadian economy. They feel like they’re not being heard.

That could change if Carney gets a ruling majority. A couple more crossovers and he will have it.

I doubt that they will vote for independence, but an independent Alberta would have about the same population as Panama, almost the same size as Texas, and probably enough resources to be successful.

There might be a referendum on independence, it won’t pass.

Are Canadian pollsters unbiased?

I doubt it. They do most of their work for Canadian governments, parties and media outlets. All of these customers are known for controlling public opinion.

It’s too bad all the commies and ‘tards can’t move to the west coast and northeast coast and the moral parts of America and Canada could joi together.

There were no polls supporting American independence...

At most, it started with about 15-20 percent, according to most of the history I’ve read...

Good. We can trade Alberta for troublesome state of GA, who cheats in our elections and needs a time out, at the very least. Nice to have option of choosing Alberta instead.

Alberta contributes the most to the Canadian economy.

This is why the tyrants in Ottawa will never let them go.

I expect after all the kerfuffle - if not before - Alberta will see a vast number of 3rd world refugees pour in.

Georgia we can fix. Trade Alberta for all of New England. Think of the improvement in the Senate alone.

My proposal still stands. We hand over the Acela Corridor starting with the 3 counties of Occupied Northern Virginia and running up to the Canadian border. We get everything west of Ontaria - except we carve out greater Vancouver which we do not want.

Both sides will be so much happier.

New England....plus throw in NYC, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Arlington, Loudoun, and Fairfax counties in Virginia.

We get Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and non Vancouver British Columbia as well as Yukon and Nunavut.

We'd be rid of 21 Democrat Senators and would only lose Susan Collins on the Republican side. The House and every presidential race wouldn't even be close. Ever.

Probably? They WILL be, particularly with an alliance with their neighbor to the south.

Alberta is also rat free. They spent a ton of money in the 1950s to eradicate the pesky rodent from the providence. That money has paid big dividends in agricultural productivity.
