The Chicago Bulls waived shooting guard Jaden Ivey “due to conduct detrimental to the team,” the team announced in a statement on Monday.
Ivey had increasingly been posting on social media about his religious beliefs and recently made anti-LGBTQ comments. The Bulls’ decision reportedly came after he criticized the NBA for celebrating Pride Month, which he called “unrighteousness.”

“The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ “
He ain’t lyin’...
Basketball is gay.
8.5 points a game.
LOL. Exactly. Something tells me that if he was putting up Luca Doncic numbers, he might have gotten some counseling instead.
Jaden Ivey is a Christian. I’m rather sure he’d still be with the team if he were a Muslim.
Anyway, the 1A concept of free speech does not apply to private businesses.
If I were the owner of the Bulls, I would have taken Ivey aside and explained that to him. But taking away his job was too much. After all, his comments did not reference violence in any way.

He should “become” a lady, enter the WNBA and dominate.
Repressing the truth. It’s fashionable.
Religious discrimination by a monopoly. Hope he lawyers up.
If he had only run a dog-fighting ring or beaten up his girlfriend, then he’d be given a bonus.
Not bad, and the Bulls are eliminated from the playoffs. I thought to look up his minutes, but ESPN has already thrown him down the memory hole. lol
NBA is crazy. Hawks were going to do a "Magic City Night". lol Crazy range of celebrations by the NBA. See below:
The Atlanta Hawks' planned "Magic City Night" at State Farm Arena was controversially canceled by the NBA. The promotion, which was intended to celebrate Atlanta's iconic cultural institution, faced significant backlash due to the club's adult entertainment reputation. NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed the decision to cancel the event, stating it was the right choice for the broader NBA community. The cancellation followed feedback from league stakeholders, including fans, partners, and employees, who raised concerns about the promotion's appropriateness. Despite the cancellation, the game against the Orlando Magic still drew over 18,000 fans and showcased Atlanta's vibrant community. The event sparked national discussion about the complex role of the club in Atlanta's identity and the NBA's image.
The next time there is a bench clearing brawl, and there will be, I will try to remember that the Bulls are such tender hearted men.
His anti-Catholic comments are not a problem, only his anti-homosexuality comments.
Only in the eyes of the libtards.
Religious discrimination DOES apply to private business.
I’d say it’s clear WHY he has the position he does, due to his Christian beliefs, and that he’s been fired, with a public announcement as to why, from his job.
He has a case.
> Religious discrimination DOES apply to private business. <
True. I have mixed feelings about this. But Ivey was not fired simply because he’s a Christian. He was fired because of a specific comment that he made.
So I must reluctantly side with management here. As I noted earlier, they should not have fired Ivey. But I think they had the right to do so.
I knew you’d show up......and I’m glad! 😁
I guess he wasn’t in a “Free Speech” zone.
