President Trump shared jaw-dropping video footage Monday of a massive explosion in Iran reportedly caused by a US airstrike on a large ammunition depot in Isfahan.
A “high volume” of 2,000-pound bunker buster bombs was used in the strike posted by Trump on Truth Social, a US official told the Wall Street Journal.
The footage that caught the president’s eye is one of several videos of fiery blasts that have taken place in Isfahan, the country’s third-most populous city and the location of the majority of Tehran’s 60% enriched uranium as well as a sprawling “missile city”.

The city is also home to the Isfahan Missile Complex, Iran’s largest missile assembly and production site, according to the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a global security nonprofit.
One of several so-called “missile cities” in Iran, the Isfahan complex was built with help from North Korea and China in the late 1980s, according to NTI, and handles the assembly and storage of ballistic missiles, as well as the manufacturing of the rocket propellants and components.
US and Israeli aircraft have repeatedly targeted Iran’s underground missile cities throughout the war, waiting for the regime to deploy missile launchers from the sites before striking, the Journal reported earlier this month.

There are two kinds of things called “missile cities” for reasons unknown.
Underground tunnels where missiles are stored and from which they are fired (upon exit).
Cities where missiles are manufactured.
Why they use the same name is unknown to me.
Law of physics says that if you have a large underground cavern, blowing the supporting rock foundation collapses it under the weight. Whatever was there is now flatter than a flat cat on a two lane highway. Granite is useful for that.
There is an old Persian saying which seems almost prophetic these restless days : “If you have seen Isfahan, you have seen half the world”.
The war won’t end because Trump declares it over on Truth Social. It will end when the regime is uprooted root and branch and a stable successor government is installed. Otherwise all we will do is bomb the mullahs into temporary quietude and a ceasefire while they rebuild.
The mullahs know that the next democrat administration will be on their side.
If they think long term, they have more strategic options than we do. And they have much more patience and a longer time horizon, while we are hot wired to the perpetual election cycle treadmill. The next U.S. national election is never more than two years away.
Iran’s big mistake so far in this war is that they’ve essentially declared war on all the other oil producing states in the Gulf.
We’ve killed most of Iran’s prewar leadership. This means that the current crowd can tell whatever lies they want, promise to be reformers, and the western media will lap it up.
Either we finish it now or we will continue to play whack-a-mole indefinitely. Sooner or later, they will get nukes. But they really don’t even need nukes. Dirty bombs in enough U.S. and European cities would be enough to entirely paralyze the west. They wouldn’t even have to set them off, which would risk annihilation unless a democrat is in the White House. If they were smart, they would announce that they had a large number hidden in the U.S. — and that they will give the U.S. the “warning demonstration” that the U.S. never gave Japan. Set one off in some suitable area — the Nevada desert (maybe next door to Area 51), or on the northern plains, or off Cape Cod, or on the South Side of Chicago. Or just inform U.S. authorities, the media, and international organizations of the location of one, with the warning that there are many more, which will only be used in the event of any U.S. military action in the Gulf.
Or we can finish the Iranian regime now and drive a stake through its heart. Bombing won’t do it. Standoff weapons won’t do it. Declarations of victory on Truth Social won’t do it. Calling on unarmed Iranian civilians to make suicidal attacks on the IRGC won’t do it.
It will take boots on the ground. I would prefer that they weren’t American boots, but nothing is going to happen unless the U.S. backs it up and commits long term. At this point, it is difficult to use the words “United States” and “long term commitment” in the same sentence and hope to be taken seriously.
