Back in late January, we reported on how House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (KY-01) announced that the committee was going to be looking into the sudden wealth of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05).
It was revealed at the time that her husband, purported venture capitalist Tim Mynett, "went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year, according to her 2024 disclosure forms."
Specifically, Comer noted that "There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years. It’s not possible. It’s not. I’m a money guy. It’s not possible.”
The news came amid a continued Trump administration-led fraud crackdown in Minnesota, where members of the Somali community were implicated and, in some cases, convicted of widespread fraud, with some estimates putting the number as high as $9 billion in taxpayer dollars.
Ilhan Omar Is Not Going to Be Happy About What James Comer Just Posted
As RedState readers will recall, Omar herself has long been accused of engaging in immigration fraud, with the claims centering around Omar allegedly marrying a man, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who some have alleged to be her brother, in 2009 so he could stay here legally, even as she reportedly was in a marriage with another man.
In December, President Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, noted that these allegations, which Omar has called "sick," were being looked into again amid the fraud investigations that were already taking place in Minnesota.
Fast forward to March, and Vice President JD Vance, who is the head of Trump's anti-fraud task force, just dropped the following bombshell related to Omar:
Vice President JD Vance said Friday that Rep. Ilhan Omar defrauded the US by allegedly marrying her brother to help him remain legally in the country.
“We actually think that Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” Vance told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson on the latest episode of his show.

Vance added that he’s been discussing legal remedies with White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, explaining that questions have been raised: “How do you go after her? How do you investigate her? How do you actually build the case to actually get some justice for the American people?”
The vice president claimed the Minnesota Democrat “has been at the center of a lot of the worst fraudsters in the Somalian community” — and that was also something that should be under investigation.

In December, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) explained the statutes under which Omar could face criminal liability if the allegations were true - federal marriage fraud, state incest laws, and tax fraud:
If this is true, then Omar faces criminal liability under three different statutes:
•Federal Marriage Fraud (8 U.S.C. § 1325(c)): This federal law makes it a felony to knowingly enter into a marriage for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws.
◦Penalties: A conviction can result in up to five years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. The non-citizen involved would also be subject to deportation and permanently barred from receiving any future U.S. immigration benefits.•State Incest Laws: All U.S. states prohibit marriage and sexual relations between close blood relatives, including a brother and sister. ◦Minnesota Law: As Ilhan Omar is a representative from Minnesota and the alleged events are tied to the state, the relevant law would be Minnesota Statute § 609.365. This statute defines incest as having sexual intercourse with another person nearer of kin than a first cousin, with knowledge of the relationship. ◦Penalties: Incest is a felony in Minnesota and is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years.
•Tax Fraud (26 U.S. Code § 7206.1): If a couple filed joint federal tax returns while not legally married (due to the marriage being void or still being married to another person), they could be charged with willfully making and subscribing to a false return. ◦Penalties: This is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $100,000 (or $500,000 for a corporation), imprisonment for up to three years, or both.

Ilhan Omar story still not fully proven or disproven. That’s why so many young (and old) people disregard politicians.
Crooks escape justice. No DC insiders are in prison-—look for them at mansions being served sirloin and wine. Not instant potatoes and Spam in a lockup.
If she is not at least prosecuted, hopefully convicted, jailed, and or deported, then we have no functional system of justice or self-government.

This is not conjecture. If not true Ilan could demand DNA evidence of such and submit such and of her alleged ex husband and herself. It would prove all with 100% certainty. If she will not it is proof of the accusation. If not true she and her ex husband could collect millions in a law suit and discredit our vice president Vance. The suit would not even go to court, they would just argue about how much.

I forgot to add, if this was her brother did she consummate their fake marriage in bed?
The GOP can’t pass the SAVE ACT, how in the hell will they get rid of her.
A definitive statement is something like, "we know she married her brother and have evidence to prosecute her." All he's saying is that they "think" she committed immigration fraud.
I wish they wouldn’t advertise this stuff. Keep it 100% under the radar, so she doesn’t have time to flee the country before they haul her in.
I doubt if the marriage to her brother is the only, or major, factor in this issue. A while back it was reported that she lied about her age when emigrating. Can’t recall the details, but I THINK she stated that she was younger than what law stipulates, and said she was older.
Yeah. “Heat up”. Yawn.
