DOJ Launches Civil Rights Investigation Into California’s Transgender Prison Housing Policy

Under Senate Bill 132, signed by Governor Newsom in September 2020 and authored by Senator Wiener, any male inmate who declares a female gender identity must be housed, addressed, and treated as a woman, regardless of criminal history, surgical status, or biological sex

Back in 1980 when I went to work as a Correctional Officer in NY State's Auburn Prison, there was a male Hispanic inmate who had undergone hormone treatments, and had breasts. He was treated as a male, which he biologically was, and was housed in general population with everyone else. I'm sure he wasn't the first inmate like that in the system. The decision was simple: Men were housed in male prisons. Women were housed in female prisons. It didn't matter what sex they wanted to be.

Fast forward 45 years later, and suddenly it's a big problem where to house these idiots. States like California have likely had trannies in their prison system for as long as anyone can remember, but have for some reason, created a problem that didn't exist until recently. Treating these people any differently than they were in the past is playing into their fantasies, and inviting even bigger problems.
