The House of Representatives has formally rejected a Senate-passed funding measure that would have reopened most of the Department of Homeland Security while leaving Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection without resources.
Speaker Mike Johnson labeled the Senate’s late-night proposal a “joke” and confirmed the House will instead advance a clean 60-day continuing resolution to fund the entire department.
The partial shutdown of DHS, now stretching into its sixth week, continues because Democrats have demanded new restrictions on immigration enforcement as the price for any deal.
President Donald J. Trump issued an emergency directive directing the use of reserve funds to pay more than 60,000
Transportation Security Administration employees amid record airport delays and staffing shortages.
Senate Democrats left Washington after the voice-vote passage early Friday morning and will not return until April 13, effectively punting the crisis for at least two more weeks.
House Republicans have already passed full DHS funding legislation three times this year, only to watch Senate Democrats block or alter the measures.
The standoff has produced unprecedented TSA wait times exceeding three hours at some airports, with hundreds of officers quitting and thousands calling out sick.
No concessions on immigration enforcement were granted, leaving core border security operations intact while civilian functions remain shuttered

Good.
I know the Democrats control the Senate, but if we keep the pressure on, eventually Thune and Schumer will have to pass something decent. Right?
ICE is already funded (until 2029, I think).
That is no excuse.
But I thought the king already issued an edict funding DHS until the squires figure their details out?
(Until the serfs go to vote)
Whoops haha I used the slightly incorrect keywords.
*sigh*
A 60-day resolution? Why not a 15 minute resolution?
I guess a YEARLY budget would be too much to ask?
Yep. All this concern about TSA means many forget that other agencies are also going without pay. Coast Guard and FEMA for example. I have not read of any Coast Guard members or FEMA workers calling in sick or walking off the job. Probably because unlike TSA they perform essential duties. Let’s be honest airline safety could be and should be handled by private contractors. There really is no excuse for the delays at airports. I know Trump called in ICE. I wish he had called in the National Guard. But my point is it never should have gotten to this point. Replacements should have been sent in from the get go.
Commies control everything even when they dont control everything its always been that way unfortunately. Trump already passed the executive order so TSA agents will be paid starting Monday
Fox News is once again equivocating and has on for coverage of the breaking House news that the House Pubs consider the Senate bill sent over to them to be a joke, are just a bunch of RINO’s. Even John Roberts can’t seem to see the forest through the trees.
And Chad Pergrum, a snake-in-the-grass Dem-leaning spokesperson Fox has to cover Congress, constantly commits the sin of omission by trying to make it sound like the House Pubs are at fault for the impasse when it once again is the Dems.
What the snake Pergrum omits is that ICE and Border control administrative staff, that keeps those departments running would effectively make it impossible for these Depts to function, staff will not be paid at all. It will shut them down.
I hate all the RINO’s (or secret Dems) that infest Fox, and with the exception of a few of their hosts, I now go to NewsMax, in particular for the evening lineup (Ed Henry/Carl Higbie/the 2 Robs, Schmidt and Finnerty) and other good hosts. No wonder Prez Trump prefers NewsMax.
And all Fox News Polls are manipulated to make Trump look bad at every turn. Fox News as to much of their programming, disgusts me. Their globalist owner, Rupert Murdoch dislikes Trump, Paul Ryan, a Trump hater, is on their Board of Directors, and they are chock full of BushBots, no friends of Trump, such as Brit Hume, a good friend of Jeb Bush, Bret Baier whose mentor was Brit Hume, BushBot Karl Rove, who uses anti-Trump Pacs to work against Trump whom he hates (another Bush family shill), Dana Perino who worked for the Bush WH, and others.
Give me NewsMax, with few exceptions, over Fox. Fox lies, commits constantly the sin of omission, has hosts that mouth off without knowing the full information (such as ICE/Border control administrative staff not being funded at all (zero funding in Senate version of bill done in the middle of the night and foisted on the House).
And even when this was pointed out to them by only a couple of outside commentators, they are still spouting the House Pubs blew it by not supporting the Senate version of the bill. They make me sick. I’ll check in on Jesse Watters and Sean Hannity tonite to see if they get the truth out to Fox viewers who otherwise won’t hear what is really going on regarding the House rejecting the Senate version of the bill. I hope they do not disappoint.
I don’t trust Laura Ingraham whom sees to be fully invested in being a Republican nag, constantly lecturing the Party and saying how they will lose the mid-terms if they don’t listen to her advice. We have enough enemies and/or wishy washy RINO types out there already.
Johnson seems to want the perfect ( never happen with Dems ) instead of something livable.
He can’t explain clearly what his problem is.
Tactical mistake to me.
What’s important to us right now, is that the Democrats don’t ever get anything they ask for. The president would never give in to them.
From what I have read, ICE is funded only through fiscal year 2026 which ends on Sept 30, 2026.
Not funding ICE & CBP is acceptable to you?
Hmm so which is 26 or 29? I hate it when we have conflicting stuff like this.
The Global communists do the FOX news “polls”. People that watch FOX aren’t far left knob polishers. That’s the RAT knob polishers responding to those polls.
Unfortunately, the GOP has too many RINOs. They are not interested in governing.
Good for him. Democrats demanding substantive changes to immigration law on exchange for continuing to fund the government is crap. Put the heat back on Senate Republicans.
“Let’s be honest airline safety could be and should be handled by private contractors.”
Used to be... but then post 911 we had to feralize along with allowing the ferals to spy on citizens through secret courts and monitoring communications .... airlines are only too happy to no longer have to pay and manage these TSA type operations. Now of they could get the ferals to take over the entire payment of medical benefits ...
Secret Service. Democrats are probably wanting the Secret Service to be shortstaffed so maybe somebody can get to President Trump more easily
According to Google search ICE is funded through 2029.
I amco fused why today’s senate bill does not fund ICE & CBP.
I guess it is DC speak where a 2% increase in budget is considered a 3% cut because budgets were expected to rise 5%.
Next time your boss tells you are getting 5% raise, tell him that is a 3% cut since you were expecting 8% raise.
Most of the XY DemonRATS have already set up conjugal visits with illegal alien criminals in the detention centers while all the XX knuckledraggers stand around outside in their Elizabethian dog collars and little red riding hood capes and while they color their beards with lesbo colors while having conjiggle visits with each other. LOL.
