The Trump administration on Wednesday waived regulations on the types of gasoline that are sold during the summer in an effort to ease surging fuel prices during the Iran war.

The Environmental Protection Agency issued an emergency waiver to lift restrictions on the sale of E15 gas, a fuel blended with 15% ethanol. The sale of E15 is restricted from June through September due to regulations designed to reduce air pollution.

The EPA also issued a waiver to remove all federal impediments to selling E10 gas, which is blended with 10% ethanol. The waivers will take effect on May 1.

Fed gas tax holiday would help.

Absolutely. Using our food supply to run cars is the worst possible way to become energy independent.

BINGO!
It's fundamentally insane to convert food to fuel.

ABSOLUTELY do not put gasoline in your car, lawnmower, etc. with E15 unless it is specifically permitted by the manufacturer. And if you do, get it from a very busy gas station and don’t let it sit for long. Personally I hate using even E10 and will only put “top tier” gasoline in my car.

The cat urine they sell for gasoline today is barely flammable by 1960’s standards.

The position of the Iowa presidential caucuses and candidates wanting to be win there by pleasing farmers has kept the ethanol mandate in place.

I got a kick out of Jimmah Cartah’s 1970s gas lines that had corn on the cob painted on the pumps. ROTFL! It gave the stations that old rural country road look.

Ethanol is a bad solution to a non-existent problem.

Don’t get too excited, some federal judge will put an injunction in place to protect the environment.

I never got a kick out of Carter’s gas lines, but I did learn not to waste a drop of gas. I make regular use of the habits my parents instilled in me back then, particularly to conserve gas on errands.

The added benefit is it will ease pressure on fertilizer demand.

Especially after it costs more to produce a unit of energy from ethanol than the energy the ethanol provides. And Trump signed off on government subsidies for corn production to produce ethanol. That corn would otherwise go to feed livestock and that’s a contributing major reason the price of meat is so high.

Agreed. I buy alcohol free gas for my small engines (for now that’s just the pressure washer). But it costs way more.
