Silicon Valley was energized by legal immigrants from all over the world who founded eBay, Google, Nvidia, SpaceX, Stripe, Sun Microsystems, Tesla, Yahoo and a host of others.
The Greek-American Elia Kazan’s 1963 film “America America” is based on the Herculean struggle of the director’s uncle to immigrate to the United States.
It summed up Americans’ traditional view of immigrants: They had risked everything for the chance to reach America, and once there, became hyperpatriotic in their gratitude for the magnanimity of their new hosts.
I grew up in rural California surrounded by hard-working immigrant farm families from Armenia, India, Japan and Mexico. Their work ethic, love of America and productive farms were models for US non-immigrants.
My own Swedish grandfather, disabled by poison gas while fighting on the Western Front in World War I, loved all things Swedish, but not nearly as much as his beloved America.
Four Hansons fought on the front lines of World Wars I and II. One was disabled, and another was killed. And all felt blessed that their parents and grandparents had gotten to America.
But something has gone terribly wrong with immigration — an open border, of course, but also a change in legal immigration as well as student visitors.

The Vietnamese call American expats “losers back home”
Meanwhile, the Cuban expats are grateful to be here.

The way they were brought here changed (not bringing people here who were eager to be Americans but instead just for jobs, not counting lax control of the borders) as well as pretty much doing away with meaningful assimilation...that will have an impact especially over time.
If you go to California- everyone is brown. They’re here for money and freeshit - zero work ethic. Contempt for traditional American values. They suck
Because they do not want to enjoy what America has to offer, but in the words of POTUS 44, they want to fundamentally change America???
When my grandparents on both sides came to America, they didn’t sneak in.
They did it legally.
They had to learn english to survive.
There were no handouts. No work, no eat. No free food, housing or healthcare.
The border crossers are not coming here legally.
They mock us because we give them endless freebies!
We have to deal with their language needs.
They accept no responsibility for anything.
They EXPECT a free ride and when that’s threatened, they get militant.
Partly, IMHO, is that they think we are suckers; they view us with contempt because we have allowed them to survive on welfare, and more or less steal from us.
Some of my ancestors owned a small farm in the Virginia colony. They sided with the wrong George, and lost everything, barely escaping their lives. They evacuated to Nova Scotia. Eventually, their kids moved to Upper Canada (now known as Ontario).
I would guess that, if those ‘United Empire Loyalists’ knew what kind of a cocked up, socialist mess that Canaduh, and the UK would become, the vast majority of them would have sided with that Washington fella, rather than Hanoverian George!
....everyone is hostile to our country. The young because they are ignorant, the old because we have been lied to our entire lives.
No one wants to save this country but us lied to who want it what it was in our hearts: honorable, with sins forgiven.
No mercy today...no Jesus. No sense of Christian forgiveness. Everyone had and was enslaved, raped, killed others. Let’s stop that sht and live the present, understanding man’s sinfulness depends not on your past or father’s sins, but on today’s..
