Scott Wiener passed laws that made it easier to build in California. Can he do the same in Congress?

In the shaded courtyard of a San Francisco affordable housing complex in early March, California’s most prolific Yes In My Backyard legislator rolled out his congressional campaign’s new housing platform.

Since Wiener joined the state Senate in 2017, California’s legislature has undergone a historic pivot on housing. Majorities now embrace the notion, at least rhetorically, that the state has an active role to play in promoting the construction of more homes, even if that means bigfooting local governments and neighborhood groups. More so than any other legislator, Wiener has been the hinge of that pivot.

There is no local planning or zoning in California. There is no local government. It is all controlled by the royalty in Sacramento. Small towns and cities are being filled with Soviet block megastructure housing. On top of that Scott Weiner is a pervert who legalized sex between adult men and boys

And.
Last week, California Globe reported on another sex crime bill introduced by California Democrats: “legislation to shield a person from the consequences of crimes they commit in California, even violent ones, as long as the person reports the crimes to authorities. The language of the proposed statute appears to immunize a person from ANY crime so long as they are reporting a violation of a sex crime law.” Sen. Scott Wiener is the author of California Senate Bill 233.

Sorry he’s a pervert, but this post is about affordable housing. Good to see that even a Democrat knows that the free market can provide affordable housing — if government will let it. The problem is that governments controlled by NIMBYs, environmental zealots, high property taxers, and leftists treating landlords as class enemies are keeping housing unaffordable. As for the “soviet style housing,” there are people who would rather live in that type of housing than out of their cars.

And there are people who work hard so they can live in the suburbs without the massive crime and congestion.

No doubt Weiner is a scumbag but your post is a bit inappropriate if I may say. Decorum.

Agenda 21 in your face. They’ll keep building and force people off their land in the burbs to fill them. If they have to, they’ll burn them out.

It’s for the environment you know.

Scott Wiener is a sick puppy.
Understand what he is doing.
He wants to increase density in existing single family neighborhoods so that the violent single parent feral children can move into your neighborhoods, go to your schools, play in your parks, and deny you safe neighborhoods.
Their existing neighborhoods are called food deserts because food markets move out of their violent neighborhoods.
All those apartments for the disadvantaged illiterates will be subsidized by middle-class Americans.
His laws will remove lanes from your streets and provide dedicated public transportation lanes and bike lanes. Buses and light rail will be required to come by every 20 minutes.
He has already made local zoning laws state zoning laws.
You won’t be able to contest an apartment building being put up next door to you right on the property line.

"San Francisco, a city brimming with Democratic political talent"

San Francisco, a city brimming with Democratic political talent destructive "talent."

Scott Weiner has single-handedly sought to destroy single family neighborhoods by writing legislation (which Newsom agrees with and happily signs) overriding local zoning ordinances.

There is no such thing any longer as a "single family lot" in California - it is perfectly legal to build up to four units on any given plot - and sell each one separately. If the formerly-zoned single family plot is within 1/2 mile of a "transit zone" - soon to be any given bus stop - the allowance is for far more units.

It is a developers dream, they come in, buy up the properties, often for cash, far over the asking price - clear off the lot - then drop up to four units, all for lease or rent. Seeing it all over my own neighborhood.

We recently had a vacancy in my neighborhood (So Cal, nice suburb) - very rare - homeowner was in her 90s and moved to Florida - extremely run-down, post WW II house and property were bought immediately by a developer with cash far over the asking price (homeowner told me this). Large corner lot - 1/2 mile from a bus stop. We were sure an apartment building was going up - and there is nothing we can do about it. Most of my neighbors have lived here for 30+ years, hard working, retirees, etc.

Fortunately, the developer is putting in a one- story, large home, ADU and a pool, according to the sign on the property. We were relieved, I think it’s most likely a spec house and will be flipped, as I’m seeing all over the place. ADUs have brought in a lot of traffic, caused parking problems and I believe have brought in crime as well.

I find myself older than I’ve ever been, but can someone tell me when ‘bigfoot’ became a verb?

I’m in Los Angeles.
I moved when they started building low income apartments in my neighborhood.
I bought in a neighborhood where horse property is protected.
It’s also an extreme fire hazard area.
I looked up the law that says apartments can’t be built in fire areas.

Countries with the highest welfare-users in the U.S. include
Afghanistan, 87 percent, the Dominican Republic, 78 percent,
Guatemala, 77 percent, Honduras, 75 percent, and Mexico, 67 percent.

I worked with a lot of Hispanic construction workers and most can’t read.
When people lose their jobs due to AI, there won’t be enough taxes for welfare-users.
Things are going to get bad in sanctuary cities.

Scott Wiener is hated by most homeowners and residents in California. Pushed through legislation that discarded height and congestion rules despite protests by residents, allowing high towers without parking alongside 1 and 2 story homes and shops. His other legislation sucks as well. He needs to have his butt kicked to hell.
