New York City approved plans for an all-male homeless shelter in the middle of the residential South Shore of Staten Island – proof of Mayor Mamdani’s hatred for the forgotten and conservative borough, locals told The Post.
Fed-up residents believe the 160-bed shelter coming to the corner of Arthur Kill and Richmond Valley Road in Charleston will bring crime, drugs and loitering, and see the move as yet another insult from the socialist mayor.
“A hundred percent he wants to screw us because we vote conservative,” said Bruce Daniele, whose gym business Intoxx Fitness is across the street from the planned shelter.
The South Shore of Staten Island voted heavily for Andrew Cuomo in the 2025 mayoral election.
The shelter will house employed and unemployed single men, and provide services to help them find jobs and “stabilize their lives,” the city Department of Homeless Services told The Post.
The city confirmed the plans on March 5 – the same day Hizzoner announced the Bellevue men’s shelter in Manhattan will be shuttering.
“If the goal is to help people stabilize their lives and find employment, placing a large shelter in what’s essentially a transit desert makes no sense,” Republican Councilman Frank Morano told The Post.
The borough’s South Shore is largely middle-class and residential, with few social services and poor transit options. The only train station is a 20-minute walk from the shelter site, and buses can take 90 minutes to reach Manhattan.
A petition against the shelter has received hundreds of signatures.
Local leaders said they are still in the dark about the facility, which will be overseen by nonprofit Community Housing Innovations (CHI) and is set to open in mid-2027.

Of course there is no easy transit near this homeless shelter. This so the scummy denizens will hang around Staten Island and this nice middle class neighborhood. How soon will they find discarded needles strewn all about?
Westerners who have read the print versions of the Holy Quran sold in the USA in the last few decades believe Islam is a "religion of peace" because the translations have been radically changed to make it appear to be.

Staten Island didn’t vote for Mamdani.
There is a Home Depot about 1 1/2 to 2 miles distant where they can try to get work before the “Immigrants” if they want to walk it. Also the is a private gun range less than 1/2 mile up the road, wonder where they will go first? /s
Too bad Staten Island couldn't secede. They tried in the 1990's, winning a landslide referendum, but were blocked by the state Assembly.
You'd have to get the Assembly to reverse, but with Rs outnumbered 2 to 1 by demoncraps, good luck.
Of course little if any of that will happen.

As bad as he is, making Mamdani a martyr would be far worse. Then the dims would fall all over themselves trying to fulfill his “legacy”.

I get the impression you’re not paying attention to whom the “homeless”are. They’re mentally ill, or addicts, or both. I wouldn’t want that near me either. In ages past many of those people would be institutionalized. Now that had its own flaws, but people being randomly victimized by drug infested crazies wasn’t one of them.
