Iran said on Thursday its response to Israeli strikes used only a “fraction” of its capabilities and warned of a stronger reaction if its infrastructure is hit again.
“Our response… employed FRACTION of our power. The ONLY reason for restraint was respect for requested de-escalation,” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X.
“ZERO restraint if our infrastructures are struck again,” he added.
Araghchi said any end to the war must address damage to Iran’s civilian infrastructure.

I don't think you will see the Iranian leadership (what's left of it) to declare "WE SURRENDER!" but it would be something more along these lines. At this point it appears that ONLY those Iranian leaders willing to end this war are the ones allowed to live so, yes, they now have a great incentive to end the war.
The attitude of those ruling or defending the rulers of Iran can be summarized in this song: PLEASE MR. CUSTER.
Lie after lie after threat after threat. They can’t do anything else. It’s in their DNA.
Taqiyya
Yeah, but SURVIVAL is also in their DNA. BTW, the Japanese were even MORE fanatical than the Iranians (and the majority hate the Mullahs) and even they surrendered because of... survival.
They can’t do 15% of what they could do on day one. They are toast and doing the usual Muslim bluster with nothing to back it up.
Because that's all Iran has left, and less every day.
Are the US and Israel willing to crush this regime or will they, like so many others before, kick this can down the road with half measures and empty words? Only time will tell.
No restraint? Baghdad Bob alive and well?
Aragchi is likely high on the next Iraniac-to-be-martyred list
Now that we’ve gotten into this, I hope we can push all the way to a new government. Otherwise, they are just going to get more missiles and nuclear capability from the Russians and Chinese.
Truly though, anyone think they wouldn’t use a nuke if they had any? And, on any country, US first? Larijani is dead- and he is the original “shotgun” all Gulf states moron, a real “strategist”.
As to the “fraction”— they have spent over 90% of what they have/had and are resorting the “hitler” secret weapons that don’t exist death spiral methodology.
For the non-islamofascist people of Iran this is a differently dangerous time. Reprisals, revenge killings a feature, even misapplied for positioning for post war power seeking.
“PLEASE MR. CUSTER”
That’s hilarious! I never saw that before. In fact, I never even heard of it or Larry Verne. I was 9 when it came out and remember many of the wacky novelty songs from that era like “Purple People Eater” and “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini.” But not “Please, Mr. Custer.”
FM...no static at all!
Y'know, because those mass-murdering terrorist twelvers have been so restrained up 'til now.
“...warned of a stronger reaction if its infrastructure is hit again”.
Doesn’t sound like “a Peace signal from Iran” to me.
March out that cardboard cutout guy again. We need another laugh.
Add in the fanatical cult worship of the God/Emperor Hirohito. It was a wise move of MacArthur to retain him in his figurehead new role as outlining their new future. There was a lot of starvation post war. US shipped them...wheat, which they did not know how to use. Until Momofuko Ando figured out a way to make long shelf life wheat noodle ramen, and became a national hero.
There was an estimated civilian “army” of 2 million organized as national defense if the home islands had been invaded. Righ down to farmers and fishermen/women and children. Home suicidal protectors. Not an inflated picture at all.
With Iran I see 3 options.
1. You take concessions then largely leave them be and live with the terrorism, instability, and likelihood that the will nuke Israel to usher in the 13th Imam.
2. You can crush them militarily, invade, take control and rule with an iron fist. (We saw “creating democracy” fails miserably)
3. You can crush them militarily, not take over, and keep killing leaders until the new guy behaves better than the old guy.
Option 1 keeps the problems low level until the big boom, then we will wish we took options 2 or 3. Option 2 I don’t think we have the willpower, especially over multiple administrations. Option 3 may require a rinse and repeat of what is happening now at some point down the road.
Pick your poison.
It was a wise move of MacArthur to retain him in his figurehead new role as outlining their new future.
Probably saved, at least half of Japan from going Communist.
Abbas Araghchi sounds like the next logical target.
