Authorities have rolled out incentives to boost marriages and births, but shifting attitudes and economic pressures among young Chinese pose deeper challenges.
The past year has been both challenging and fulfilling for music teachers Huang Zhen Hui and Liang Ren Jia. Not only did they set up their own music school in Shanghai, they also got married after dating for seven years.
Initially, the couple were worried their parents might oppose their relationship due to the 1,000km-long distance between their hometowns. Huang is from Shandong province and Liang is from Zhejiang province. But both families gave their blessings, and they tied the knot last November in Shanghai. “(Marriage) gives both of us something to look forward to in life,” Huang told CNA.
“Many young people nowadays just date casually; if one doesn’t work out, they move on to the next. But deep down, everyone craves a sense of belonging, and perhaps marriage is where that belonging lies.”

In order for a young man to get married, he must own his own apartment. These apartments are bought GUTTED. Down to the bare concrete, and then rebuilt according to the buyer’s Feng Shui. (You can’t buy one that’s already done, as that’s designed for someone ELSE’S feng shui, and that would be bad or something). Anyway, these apartment buildings were sold to investors as investments for WAY too much money. And as a result, the apartments are also way too much money. This means that if a young man works the normal 90 hours a week for the rest of his life, he’ll never pay off the apartment.
If you don’t have an apartment, no woman will marry you. So, as a result, young men are giving up and “lying flat”. Meaning they do JUST enough to pay for food and their phone bill while still living with their parents. “Why are the women like that?” you ask. Because they CAN be. You see in Chinese culture the oldest son is responsible for taking care of the parents when they retire. So as a result during the “one child” policy era couples were aborting girl babies because they needed the son to take care of them later. This has resulted in a *HUGE* male:female disparity. So any woman has her choice of suitors. And as China has become more westernized it has also become more materialistic. And woman are looking for the man who can buy them a Bentley, and a Louis Vuitton purse. And most of the guys are facing the fact that they can’t even pay off the apartment.
Long story short, they have some SERIOUS demographic problems. Makes me worry that they might make a move on Taiwan just to “thin out the herd” a bit if the men get uppity.
Mainland china’s birth rate is tanking, their economy is tanking, tofu infrastructure is crumbling, theft and graft is higher then ever before but it’s all good says poop bear xi......

They setup fake ccp police offices in NYC, they are buying properties in our country ringing our military installations. The ccp set up birth vacations so they can have chinese born her in the US so later they can come back with citizenship to worm their way further in to our lands,
our government, our military.
The chinese people are mandated by chinese law to spy, cheat and steel. To lie. The chinese have no morals, no character, no integrity they have all been socially lobotomized. They are dog robbers.
The few who are not damage are few and far between. And they with out let or reservation will say the same thing I have said here.
Kick them out of our university, confiscate the property they bought around our military bases. Slash and limit the number of foreign nationals china can have at they embassy, thin out their mission to the UN as well.
Tax and tariff them the same as the do to us. the ccp, china can not survive with out us but we can survive with out them.
The problem for Xi is that China became a capitalistic state while enduring communism. People were given some economic freedom and being Chinese and business people at heart, enthusiastically began to engage in businesses. some were push carts, some were stalls in the markets, some, in fact many, became manufacturers of everything.
Along with the freedom and lack of regulation came intense corruption at all levels of the government and the military. To compete, many, learned thew best way was to make and sell crap. Specifications and inspections did not exist in the uncontrollable markets.
Tofu drang was born and became for many the standard.
This business of capitalism had to be ended. Xi set about doing just that. He began to reassert the CCP at the lowest levels, the pushcarts. He destroyed the real estate market thus also destroying the banking and construction markets and all the associate vendors.
Select failed and failing businesses and manufactures were purchased by foreclosure with the CCP gaining controling interest. And on and on and on.
Xi is attempting to restore by the book communism. The new system is to be based on communist business and industry under total CCP control. A factory job will replace a job on the commune farm.
