Donald Trump's former counterintelligence official blamed Israel for providing the US with faulty intelligence in the lead-up to the war with Iran and said the president should have continued negotiating with Tehran.
Joe Kent, the former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said in his resignation letter Tuesday that Iran posed no imminent threat and the war was driven by pressure from Israel.
'Key decision makers were not allowed to express their opinions. There wasn't a robust debate,' Kent told Tucker Carlson on Wednesday.
Kent argued that Trump should have created a communication backchannel with Iran and allow Israel to fight the war themselves.
'I think there's a potential there where we could have done several different things, we could have simply said to the Israelis, "No you will not, and if you do, we will take something away from you,"' he said.
He added that 'Israeli officials… will say all kind of things that simply isn't true' and said 'it did seem like Benjamin Netanyahu was in the White House quite a bit' as opposed to himself and DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard.
Without naming names, he said that staffers dissenting opinions in the administration were not allowed to speak to President Trump.

Kent also warned that the next supreme leader of Iran that replaces Ali Khamenei will be 'more radical,' claiming that Ayatollah Khamenei 'was preventing them from getting a nuclear weapon.'
'Going aggressively after the ayatollah was the last thing we should have ever done.'
He reiterated to Carlson, who has also criticized Donald Trump on the strikes, that there was no threat to America from Iran and that the war was done on behalf of Israel, citing Marco Rubio's statement shortly after the war began.
It looks to me like Kent has butt-hurt for being left out of the loop on the decision-making
You would think someone in that position would have a signed non disclosure agreement….
Kent resingned because he was under FBI investigation for leaking classified information not because of the war with Iran.
Just continue talking about another agreement they won't abide by while they continue to enrich uranium to weapons grade and killing Americans and allies? Sure, let's try that plan!
I like how he scurried to the Qatarlson show ASAP. For both the top priority is to undermine our ongoing rearrangement of the Middle East. With Saudi on top, with upcoming Abraham Accords. With Iran declawed and defanged. The Shiite Twelver pestilence finally gone. Saudi and Gulf nations have super large modernization plans that 7th century Ayatollahs were blocking.
Israel benefits too boo hoo. While if we get lucky there will be long term peace in the Middle East.
Damn good thing this deluded traitor was out of the loop. He and Tucker should get a room
So... One anti-Semite to another anti-Semite.
Good to know.
Gotta love those “Monday morning quarterbacks after the Sunday game”.
“Kent resigned because he was under FBI investigation for leaking classified information not because of the war with Iran.”
Prosecute to the max if so. He joins a long line of Trump betrayers. By now Trump gets a good laugh from their agitated performance art. Daddy Trump has seen it all.
Or his security clearance would keep him from opening his yap.
What’s another 47 years? It didn’t work the first 47 years, but it’s BOUND to work in the next 47.
Yeah, right, the radical imams are just going to give up making nukes. What a load of crap. No way was Iran ever going to give that up. Lying to infidels is perfectly acceptable in Islam.
What the President should have done is 100% up to the President. Not everyone will agree with what Trump decides but it is HIS decision and once made those in his administration need to support that.
“Kent argued that Trump should have created a communication backchannel with Iran ...”
I would think such is already happening, if not with officials at least with any opposition leaders.
IOW:
1. We should be able to tell another sovereign country what to do, and
2. We should punish them if they defend themselves from militant Islamofascists.
Remember what Rubio said?
Video here;
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T3pL_ZCWPz0
Per NYT: “U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. launched preemptive strikes against Iran because they knew Israel was planning an imminent attack. Rubio argued this move was defensive to prevent Iran from targeting U.S. forces, later clarifying that the decision was made by President Trump to avoid taking the first hit.”
So we should make nice to Iran and threaten Israel. Yeah ok.
The fact that he said this on Sucker Qatarlson’s little program is telling.
