President Trump allowed the deadline for candidates to drop out to pass Tuesday without making an endorsement in the hotly contested Republican Texas Senate primary runoff race.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is taking on incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in the May 26 runoff, after neither candidate received 50% of the vote in the primary earlier this month.
Trump had previously said he would ask whichever candidate did not receive his endorsement to drop out of the race.
Paxton has said he would be willing to drop out if Senate Republicans agreed to roll back the filibuster and pass the president’s prized SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.
Shortly after the March 3 primary, speculation swirled that Trump was on the verge of endorsing Cornyn. The president was reportedly agitated by the leaks

This is no longer any reason for President Trump to endorse Cornyn. He has done nothing and will continue to do nothing to help Trump.
Other deals will be required to pass the SAVE act.

Agreed.
Not endorsing, in this case, is "presidential".

They’re both lovers. That explains what Paxton’s wife was talking about when she said she is divorcing him for Biblical reasons. I didn’t think it would be THAT Biblical reason😂

Paxton has said he would be willing to drop out if Senate Republicans agreed to roll back the filibuster and pass the president’s prized SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. I believe Paxton only said that because he knew it wouldn't happen, and then he could attack Cornyn over it as being an ineffective leader after 24 years in the Senate.

It seems to me, at least, that the Republicans, or at least the RINOs, value ‘comity’ in the Senate (meaning letting the Democrats effective run things) over keeping one of their own, Cornyn, in office (which would have been easy had the Senate passed the SAVE Act). So, now, Paxton has a clear path to the nomination, and he’ll be getting my vote.
It just strikes me as idiotic, since the RINOs had a REALLY EASY way to protect one of their own, Cornyn, but instead will now waste $50M, which could have been used to defeat Democrats, on a futile attempt to stop Paxton.

He released an ad to the tune of Love Shack. B52s said they don’t endorse either candidate. I was shocked that stodgy Gop candidate released this ad.
