If the Dems ever regain power, it will be used to shutdown Fox or OAN, etc.

The problem is the Dems: the Democratic Party and their leftist supporters throughout our institutions need to be suppressed as an illiberal, corrupt criminal conspiracy against the Constitutional order.

Trump had a chance to do that using the Insurrection Act, but chickened out.

“also known as the fake news”

You do realize that Dems and FedGov administrators were spouting this same line during COVID-19, correct?

What is a “news distortion”?

Maybe running fake AI video showing fake U.S. casualties?

Maybe it was Walter Chronkite convincing the US population we “lost” the Tet offensive?

At the time, the Progressive Media controlled 95% of the American media. We were, in effect, a Mediacracy. (Rule by Media).

A significant problem, exacerbated by attacks on Christianity and a glorification of Hedonism. We should not forget the constant drone of entitlement by Leftists, as well.

Most of the complaints are about cable networks. They are not licensed by the FCC.

This junk is brought up every few months. I guess it “hits” with some audience because they keep using it to get people worked up.

The FCC isn’t going to do a damned thing about it.

The FCC’s News Distortion Rules Highlight Need for Updates
Jeffrey Westling

Executive Summary

Former President Trump recently called for the Federal Communications Commission to revoke the licenses owned by the American Broadcasting Company after alleging unfair treatment from the network’s moderators during the September debate.
Federal regulators do indeed have the authority to impose a variety of content-based rules on radio and television broadcasters and may revoke their licenses if broadcasters do not comply; such restrictions do not, and constitutionally cannot, apply to newspapers, streaming services, websites, social media, and a wide variety of other sources, an asymmetry that is likely harmful to the overall media environment.
Over the longer-term, Congress should consider legislative changes to allow broadcasters and alternative media sources to compete on a more level regulatory playing field.

I don’t like doing this but started when Obama began using the IRS to punish his political adversaries, or was it Clinton? Either way it has, predictably, become a common practice. Another sign that our representative republic is going down the tubes.
