Republicans on Capitol Hill are asking the Justice Department to consider bringing criminal charges against Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide in President Donald Trump’s first administration who became a star congressional witness about the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, according to two sources familiar with recent developments.
GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk made a criminal referral of Hutchinson to the Justice Department in recent days, the sources said. He accused Hutchinson of lying to Congress in her summer 2022 testimony when she alleged Trump was aware of the potential for violence on January 6, 2021, and forged ahead with his attempts to rile up his supporters.
Loudermilk has long attempted to reframe the public perception of the events at the Capitol, including by scrutinizing the House committee that investigated the Capitol riot and found Trump was “directly responsible” for the riot. Loudermilk’s referral was co-signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, who chairs the committee under which Loudermilk is running a probe of January 6.
The Justice Department’s press office didn’t respond to inquiries about the referral. Both current and former lawyers for Hutchinson didn’t respond to multiple inquiries this week from CNN. CNN has reached out to Loudermilk for comment.

Isn’t she the one who said Trump tried to wrestle away the steering wheel of The Beast?
Charge Hutchinson and then get her to spill the goods on Liz Cheney et al.
Yes. She created an impossible story about Trump, the SS, and the Beast. Pathetic.
Need to prosecute the main players in this judicial assault against President Trump, i.e., Liz Cheney, nanacy pigLIESi, chuck “schmuck” shumer, and the whole demoncRAT & RINO Congress along with creepy gropin’ pedophile slowjoe & kamalaladingdong legs up harris. So far the GOP has done NOTHING so they go after the small fry liars.
she was lying her sweet lil ass off
dont take all the weight cassidy
take everyone down with you
DC grand jury and DC court- don’t even waste the time and resources optics of mean white RS piling on courageous girl will be the narrative
Why isn’t the atty general of Wyoming looking at Cheyney’s communications- only way to get anything of traction
yeh punch the girl. meanwhile, Adam Schiff, lies to the whole world. Go after him.
“Isn’t she the one who said Trump tried to wrestle away the steering wheel of The Beast?”
No. She wasn’t there, and she made clear she wasn’t there. She said that someone had TOLD her that it happened.
If someone lied to her, and she passed it on without vouching for it from personal knowledge, that’s not perjury.
My guess is that someone was characterizing Trump’s agitation — something like “Wow, he practically grabbed the steering wheel to get over there!” The speaker didn’t intend it literally. It was more like if someone says “The day of the liberal Republican was a million years ago,” meaning a long time. Hutchinson heard it and thought it was literal. Again, not perjury, just an honest mistake.
Of all the things that have been said against Trump, this is NOT the one to bring front and center with criminal charges.
“My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl” - Simone
Yep. All liars
“No. She wasn’t there, and she made clear she wasn’t there. She said that someone had TOLD her that it happened.”
*********************************************************
Likely she made the whole thing up because she knew the media would make a big deal out of it just to embarrass Trump. The way she was able to get the embarrassment out was brilliant in that there would be no way to accuse her of lying.
Do it like this. “I was never there and never saw it, but someone TOLD me they caught Tucker Carlson in bed with a little boy. Again, I never saw it since I was never there.” If someone lied to me, and I just passed it on without vouching for it from personal knowledge, that’s not perjury. Too bad if the media goes and writes articles about Tucker liking little boys. Would be a darn shame. But, if they do it doesn’t have anything to do with me.
Report: J6 Committee Members Sought Sexual Favors w/ ‘Star Witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson

‘Multiple colleagues had raised concerns with the speaker’s office about the potential for public disclosure of ‘sexual texts from members who were trying to engage in sexual favors’ with Hutchinson...’
Last month, Breitbart News reported that House Speaker Mike Johnson blocked GOP investigators from subpoenaing Cassidy Hutchinson, who was the Democrat-controlled January 6th Commission’s “star witness” in the wake of Jan. 6, 2021.
At the time, it wasn’t clear why Johnson was protecting Hutchinson, who was caught changing her testimony during the course of the Jan. 6 Committee hearings. On Thursday, the Washington Post revealed what may have motivated Johnson.
According to the Post, an aide to Johnson blocked the subpoena to prevent the release of sexually explicit texts that lawmakers sent Hutchinson.
“Multiple colleagues had raised concerns with the speaker’s office about the potential for public disclosure of ‘sexual texts from members who were trying to engage in sexual favors’ with Hutchinson,” the Post reported Thursday. Separately, a member of Johnson’s staff [said] that Hutchinson could ‘potentially reveal embarrassing information.’”
Johnson has launched another investigation into Jan. 6 for the new Congress, which will be headed by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., who uncovered numerous damning facts about the politicized J6 Commission over the last two years.
An investigation into Hutchinson also implicates that then-January 6th Commission Vice Chair Liz Cheney, who secretly communicated with her during the proceedings, and may have pressured her to fire her attorney.
Loudermilk and the Oversight Subcommittee have recommended that the FBI investigate Cheney for potential witness-tampering charges.
“As a licensed attorney, Liz Cheney would have known the ethical and legal issues with this communication,” Loudermilk said last October.
“Clearly, Cheney did not want Stefan Passantino representing Hutchinson; as shortly after Cheney and Hutchinson began communicating, Cheney convinced Hutchinson to fire Passantino, and arranged for a new attorney to represent Hutchinson pro-bono.” …
Liz Cheney led the witness.
She did more than that.
Thick
Extremely guilty
