Trump says invading Iran would be a 'waste of time' but wants new leader to 'clean out everything'

Donald Trump said a full-scale invasion of Iran would be 'a waste of time' on Thursday and called for the country to get a new leader who would 'clean out everything.'

Trump spoke to NBC News as the Islamic Republic sought a new supreme leader after the death of Ayatollah Khamenei and their foreign minister said a ground invasion would be a 'disaster' for the US.

'We want to go in and clean out everything. We don't want someone who would rebuild over a 10-year period,' Trump told NBC.

'We want them to have a good leader. We have some people who I think would do a good job,' he said, though he did not offer any names.

According to Al Jazeera, Iran's interim council has discussed the gathering of the Assembly of Experts, which is tasked with selecting the new supreme leader.

Trump said somewhat sarcastically that 'at some point they'll be calling me to ask who I'd like' to replace Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the deceased Ayatollah, has emerged as the favorite to succeed his father, though Israel has pledged to kill him, too.

Trump also responded to a warning from Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that Iran was prepared for the US to launch ground attacks.

'We are waiting for them because we are confident that we can confront them, and that would be a big disaster for them,' Araghchi said.

Trump is saying the bombing and destruction of your military will continue, until the IRGC and Ayatollahs tell Trump to appoint the next Supremo Leader of Iran. Next Shah?? Might be next El Presidente. Who knows.

This is a golden opportunity for France to play a constructive role, believe it or not. France has more than a century maybe two of relations with Persia that can help to restructure the government in Iran in the form of a newly established Constitutional secular government.

This means a government based on democratic principles including representative government hopefully elected, placing power in the parliament, with an executive branch totally unrelated to the clerics/ayatollas. Ditto an independent Judiciary totally unrelated to Ayatollahs. Ditto an economic governance totally unrelated to ayatollahs. Ditto a military totally independent of mullahs, governed by the parliamentary and executive of government. Religious freedom must permit free religion not just Shia islamist extremism, which in fact should be banned.

Here is what Iran has now, pre AI search. All of this needs to be disassembled so that the Ayatollahs control nothing and never will.

The 1979 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran (amended in 1989) establishes a theocratic republic based on Islamic principles (Ja’afari Shiism). It mandates that all laws align with Sharia. Key power lies with the Supreme Leader, who controls the military and key appointments, alongside a President and Parliament (Majlis).

+2
Key Aspects of the Iranian Constitution
Fundamental Principles: The document dictates that all political, social, and economic institutions must be based on Islamic, specifically Shi’a, doctrines.
Supreme Leader (Wali Faqih): The ultimate authority. The Supreme Leader sets general policies, commands the armed forces, and controls intelligence and security operations.
Government Structure: A hybrid of theocratic and democratic elements. It features an elected President (head of government) and an elected Parliament (Islamic Consultative Assembly).
Guardian Council: A 12-member body (6 clerics appointed by the Leader, 6 jurists) that reviews legislation for consistency with Sharia and the constitution, and vets candidates for elections.
Rights of the People: While promising certain rights, the constitution severely restricts freedoms of religion and speech, particularly for those outside the recognized minority groups (Zoroastrians, Jews, Christians).
Amendments: Originally adopted in 1979 after the revolution, it was amended in 1989 to abolish the prime minister position and strengthen the role of the Supreme Leader

There can be no more Supreme Leader. Every Supreme leader and minions must renounce power and exit government and military judicial etc. forever.

A new Constitution must be instituted and Ayatollahs removed from the public sector forever. Period.

Hey, like, this is just my opinion, Dude...
-
The USA and Israel do not want to “change the regime” in Iran.
We are NOT going to install a new leader.
What they want to do is provide the Iranian people
an opportunity to do that for themselves.

The intention is to destroy their military capability.
No air force; no navy; no nuclear capability,
no missile production capabilities, no missile storage,
no missile launchers, no missiles,
no drone production, no radars.
No military or financial support for the 3 “H’s”
(Hamas, Hezbollah; Houthi)
No more supply of missiles or drones to Russia.
NOTHING.

They will be completely de-fanged and de-clawed.

The current conflict will end
when there are no more targets left.

Whoever/whatever the Iranians choose to do in the future,
will only effect themselves, and no one else,
but their country will no longer be able to
threaten or harm any other country.
They will be a threat to no one.

Oil will flow freely throw the Straights of Hormuz,
Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Saudi Arabia,
The UAE, Kuwait, and Yemen can all relax a bit.

Its a high task considering islam encompasses politics and religion, they see no distinction between religion and govt.

Christians dont force it althought they want govt to work to not do/support/encourage things against Christianity, govt exists to protect religious freedoms and prevent governments persecuting religion or taking over powers that are in the realm of churches. In ourmcurent world govt is a necessary evil. Good when its in its limits and doing its proper role, but easily becomes tyranny when leaders disregard Godly limits and roles and forget are not God and will answer one day to Him.

Once you're completely ignorant.

The vast majority hate our guts and would rather die that let Trump pick someone to rule over them.

We couldn't even leave Iraq and Afghanistan with a US friendly government. It's insane to think any amount of bombing will result in Iranians allowing Trump installing a leader.

But, you're glad to know while we're destined to suffer $5 a gallon gas and Biden-style inflation over this unnecessary foreign war, Russia is reaping the benefits of higher oil prices.

We've already got $5 gas in California. I think we are headed for $10 before too long.

Given the last few days, a couple of more weeks of this might well bring a more malleable group to rise in Iran. That other Sunni-majority Middle East nations are becoming involved, even if only rhetorically, suggests the split is not a simple Shia-Sunni divide, but a larger fracture as the equation becomes a secular modernity, versus Sunni, versus Shia, versus the West generally, versus the so-called global South.

The echoes of Brzeziński's foolish, simplistic "grand chessboard" with us as "regent" of the world is fading now. Rightfully so IMO.

After all, while the Iran "conflict" is ongoing now, so is a most interesting Pakistan-Afghanistan "conflict" and more. Islam is no monolith, but seems quite against itself in many ways. Witness in NYC between the few Lefty Shia ( or maybe pretend Shia ) and recent "Persian" expats. It is complicated, to be sure.

Re: "This is a golden opportunity for France to play a constructive role, believe it or not."

That is absurd.

Emmanuel Macron will hand the Iran government right back to the IRGC.

Re: "We couldn't even leave Iraq and Afghanistan with a US friendly government."

The Shah government in Iran was friendly with the USA and Israel until Jimmy Carter showed up.

The Shah actually had Jewish people in his government.

In 1979, Iran had the highest general standard of living for a large population in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

This must be some of that “three dimensional chess” that he is known for.

Our President moves in mysterious ways.

It’s clear to me Reza Palevi is the guy. Countless Iranians have risked their lives , and countless have lost their lives , supporting him, calling for him . Give him a chance . He has zero mullah taint . The long suffering Iranians have earned what they’ve asked for.
