Protesters honoring Iran’s slain supreme leader in Manhattan chanted anti-US and anti-Israel slogans before violence broke out when a counter-protester tore down a poster of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting a beating and police intervention.
Protesters chanting “Death to America, death to Israel” gathered in New York City on Friday to honor slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, before the event descended into violence in Washington Square Park.
The chants, delivered in Farsi, rang out during a small vigil organized in Manhattan following Khamenei’s death last week in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran.
Participants set up a makeshift memorial beneath the park’s iconic arch, placing photographs of Khamenei alongside flowers and candles. Some demonstrators held signs reading “solidarity with Iran,” while others displayed flags bearing the face of Jeffrey Epstein.
Tensions escalated when a counter-protester approached the memorial and attempted to tear down a portrait of Khamenei. “Take this down!” shouted Rami Even-Esh as he ripped the poster from the display.
Video from the scene shows several of Khamenei’s supporters rushing toward him. The man was knocked to the ground and kicked by protesters before New York Police Department officers intervened. Officers quickly separated the groups and placed Even-Esh in handcuffs as blood streamed from his nose.
“He’s a terrorist who’s killed American soldiers,” Even-Esh said afterward as police led him away. “I think it was insane that there was a vigil for him. I just took the sign down. I felt that was the right thing to do.”

I think when at war with some nation and a group begins chanting death to you, that is beyond free speech. They are identifying as enemy combatants. TAKE THEM OUT.

I will second or third the move to strip these people of citizenship, if any, revoke visas, if any, and then deport immediately. They are explicitly avowed enemies and very simply do not belong here. And if they return, they should be viewed as enemy combatants.

The problem is that we don’t have declarations of war anymore. Instead we have kinetic responses, police actions, etc. So the 1A still applies.
It’s a real mess. I would have preferred (in theory) that Trump go before Congress, make his case, then ask for a declaration of war. The problem there is that many in today’s Congress are irrational, or worse. They want America to be hurt, to fail.

I seem to recall someone, maybe the president of Iran, saying “Death to Israel, Death to America” didn’t mean the people of both countries actually dying. More like death to the idea and existence of the countries as non islamic entities. That struck me as a very stupid thing to say. Kind of like pointing an Airsoft pistol at a bunch of police officers. Trump is the first CIC to understand that as long as Iran exists, it’s going to be trying to kill everybody that isn’t Shia. We can’t let that happen.
Obama and Biden let these scumbags into the Nation. We and our children and grandchildren will pay for this in the future.
