SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- An investigation is underway after an attack on San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie's security team Thursday evening.
It happened in the Tenderloin neighborhood just before 6 p.m. near Cedar and Polk Streets. Two suspects were arrested.
In video obtained by the local publication Mission Local, the mayor is seen nearby at one point during the confrontation, but moved away while one of the officers was interlocked on the ground with a suspect.
Mission Local reports that this happened after a group of people blocked the SUV that Lurie and his team use.
Lurie's office and the San Francisco Police Department confirm that two officers assigned to the mayor's detail were in a physical confrontation with two unknown males.
The officers requested backup. They had non-life-threatening injuries and were treated there at the scene.
The two men were arrested, but have not been identified.
The San Francisco Police Officers Association also issued a statement confirming that at least one of its officers was injured.

Sounds like an attempted car jacking that failed. They probably didn’t know who’s SUV they were blocking.
Had it been an actual hit on the mayor, I’d think there’d be more guns involved.
This is one of the First law and order mayors they’ve had in San Francisco in decades. Already cleaned up quite a bit in the streets. Wouldn’t be surprised if the perps knew who they were targeting.

So, were they homeless, black, trans, illegal, or muslim? I think I listed all of the classes who must be protected at all costs. Perhaps they were all of the above.

Maybe 25 years ago I attended a conference in SF and the 8-10 in my group walked from the conference venue, through the Tenderloin, to our hotel. It was pretty uncomfortable then. Now we would have to be certifiable to attempt it
