A Seattle woman who shot and killed a rideshare driver, then stole his car and drove to get her haircut, has pleaded guilty to murder.
Ne'Iani Allen-Bailey, 20, faces between 15 and 23 years in prison when she is sentenced later this month for her plea to second-degree murder with a firearm enhancement, according to filings in King County Superior Court.
In August 2023, Allen-Bailey killed Amare Geda, 52, as he was parked on 1st Avenue South in the SODO neighborhood. Geda was driving for a rideshare service and had a "Lyft" jacket on at the time he was killed.
According to charging documents, surveillance video shows Allen-Bailey walk up to Geda's car and then engage with him in a physical struggle. Investigators say she shot him with her 9mm handgun, then stole his Toyota Prius and fled the area.
"The defendant left the victim in the street to die, did not call 911, and dumped the victim's cell phone on 1st Ave South a few blocks down the road," the documents stated.

After the killing, Allen-Bailey admitted she used the stolen car to visit family members and go to a hair appointment in Kent.
Seattle police began looking for Geda's stolen Prius and had put a picture out to the public, requesting help locating it.
Two days after the murder, officers responded to a parking complaint near a street fair at Denny Park. The vehicle in question turned out to be Geda's Prius.
Detectives quickly told patrol officers to watch the car until the driver returned, which is when they arrested Allen-Bailey.
Initially, according to court records, Allen-Bailey said she had bought the car from someone online, but then admitted to stealing it from Geda.
Allen-Bailey also claimed Geda had assaulted her, but investigators said there was no evidence of that, and the video shows her approaching his car and engaging him without provocation.
Prosecutors filed a separate case against Allen-Bailey for attacking a Washington State Department of Transportation worker while spraying graffiti in a tunnel a month before Geda's murder.
Court records show Allen-Bailey also pleaded guilty to the assault case. She is expected to appear in court on March 27 for sentencing in both cases.
Takele Gobena, the president of the Drivers Union and a friend of Geda, spoke with KOMO News on Thursday after the guilty plea.
"It won't bring back Amare for the family, but at least for the drivers, for the family, to see some accountability - it will help to see some closure for this case," Gobena said. “In this particular case, the shooter was not even a passenger. Out of nowhere, that shows how this job is risky.”

In Washington State, this type of crime will probably get you 90 days of community service. But go do some prayers in front of an abortion clinic and you’ll find yourself in jail for 30 years.
