With so much going on in the world, it's easy to forget that it's only been a little over a year since Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was killed. He was allegedly gunned down by Luigi Mangione, who is awaiting trial on both state and federal charges in conjunction with Thompson's murder.
In his alleged manifesto, Mangione wrote "these parasites had it coming" and "I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done."
Several prominent Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, defended Mangione's actions, essentially saying violence is wrong, but UnitedHealthcare sometimes denies claims, which is an "act of violence," so it was understandable why someone shot a husband and father in the back as he walked down a Manhattan street.
It was an appalling, but revealing, moment in Democratic Party politics: violence is okay if you do things we don't like, like denying insurance claims. Other Leftists, including former WaPo reporter Taylor Lorenz, turned Mangione into a folk hero.
Now he's got his own musical, because we apparently celebrate depraved murderers if their victims are the right target.
Here's more:
Following a brief run in San Francisco last June, “Luigi: The Musical” will go east to The Green Room 42 in Midtown on June 15 — a cabaret venue that’s a mere 20-minute subway ride from where Mangione is accused of gunning down insurance exec Brian Thompson outside of a Hilton Hotel in December 2024.
If a jokey lark centered around the cold-blooded murder of a husband and dad of two during an ongoing trial feels too soon, the NY performance’s timing has got nothing on the original.
Just six months after the slaying and ensuing five-day manhunt gripped America, an actor named Jonny Stein was already playing 27-year-old Mangione onstage — tap-dancing and belting away at a tiny theater in Northern California.
Although smiley, meme-friendly Mangione gets top billing — and, according to audience members, boisterous cheers — he’s not the only notorious boldfacer in the musical.
“Luigi” imagines, in song, Mangione, crypto fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried and disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs all sharing the same prison cell at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. The three men really were all behind bars there at once.
The troublesome trio sing songs to justify their acts — like “Cats” in the clink.
Becoming a Gen Z. Jean Valjean, the title character croons, “Bringing down a tiny part of our broken health care system brings me enough happiness to share!”
It's possible that only a handful of people will show up to this, but — taken in the larger context of other things the Left has said recently — we cannot ignore what this musical represents.
Not only did Democrats and Leftists justify Mangione's alleged actions, they're now celebrating it. And politics, as I've long said, is downstream of culture. That's why Susan Rice said recently that Democrats are going to weaponize the government against businesses and people who didn't adequately resist the Trump administration.
"There will be an accountability agenda," Rice promised. "Companies already are starting to hear they better preserve their documents, they better be ready for subpoenas. If they've done something wrong, they will be held accountable. And if they haven't broken the law, good for them; if they've done the right things, good for them. That also will be noted and remembered. This is not going to be an instance of forgive and forget. The damage that these people are doing is too severe to the American people and our national interests."
Those are her words, not mine. And she's not alone. Eric Swalwell vowed to make life a "living hell" for ICE agents in California, should he become the next governor. Mehdi Hasan wants the next Democrat to run on a retribution platform. Philly DA Larry Krasner is promising to "hunt down" ICE agents like Nazis after World War II.
Keep in mind, we're not talking about terrorists. The people whom the Democrats have vowed to go after, to punish, to target with retribution, have broken no laws. They've merely cooperated with the duly elected President of the United States, worked to enforce our immigration laws, or — in the case of Brian Thompson — ran a company in an industry (private insurance) that Democrats simply don't like.
And when Democrats aren't actively weaponizing government against their ideological and political opponents, they're enacting legislation that turns violent criminals loose on our streets, where they rob, rape, and murder innocent Americans like Stephanie Minter. In response to that, Democrats smirk and refuse to answer questions.
This should be a klaxon warning for all of us going into the midterms and in the run-up to 2028: Democrats, if they regain power, plan to punish us for electing Donald Trump, for doing our jobs, and for not being Leftist enough for their liking. And Democrats will not only harm you, but their theatre kid foot soldiers will also celebrate it off-Broadway with song and dance.

So, when the government becomes single payer and claims are denied...
Democrats are all about violence that supports their agenda. It is the unspoken purpose of “peaceful demonstrations”. They are demonstrating the potential to unleash unrest.
Defiance. The courage to be defiant. As a teenager, I was very defiant at home and at school. I still have that in me and I’ll resort to it again if I have to.
I can’t believe there is an audience for this.
It’s okay to murder as long as you have feeeelings.
Americans better start getting right with the Lord and working on their feelings about dusting far left knuckledraggers posing as “Americans”. Start sharpening your warrior skills. It’s coming. It’s going to be us Americans against them and their foreign invaders.
Sad but true.
Loogie. /spit
Remember at the Broadway performance of Hamilton when the cast discovered Pence and his wife were somehow allowed to sit in the theater with the all leftist woke cast and audience, they stopped and singled him out, jeering him, pointing at him and laughing at him while mocking him
Imagine how they would treat someone who wasn’t a wimpy RINO.
RE: 20 minute subway ride away from the murder scene....
If the audience lives to get there without being slashed to death, shot or pushed in front of a moving train on the tracks, they may live to give standing ovations.
RE: worse than tasteless....
“No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.”
—H. L. Mencken
Luigi aside, United Health Care is a danger to America
In the final analysis their M.O. is delay and deny.
Now that’s funny right there! Touche’ !
“These people are crazy”
...Donald Trump
This makes the fictional Broadway play “Springtime for Hitler” as being in good taste.
The orchestra for the Mario Brothers opera is 16-bit.
There’s actually a great idea here. Conservatives should create our own musicals to lampoon the Left. Suggestions? I’ll start: How about “The View, The Musical”, or “The Sound of Shrieking”. I have more ideas but I want the see yours!
