This article below was originally posted last December and now is updated. But the risk of activated U.S.-based Iranian sleeper cells and of lone wolfs has increased since Saturday’s U.S.-Israeli lightening attacks on Iran.
Americans definitely shouldn’t live in fear. We need to carry on our daily lives. But reasonably, our police and national security establishment now are on high alert.
One of the first lone wolf attacks emerged two days ago in Austin, Texas. Here is a summary of a local news report:
Ndiaga Diagne, a Senegal immigrant, open fired upon people in people in a bar in Austin, Texas, killing two people and wounding 14. He was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Property of Allah,” and another shirt with an Iranian flag design, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.The shooting erupted a day after Israel and the United States launched an attack on Iranthat killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The FBI said it was investigating the shooting as a potential act of terrorism.
From Australia to New York national security officials now are organizing to find and suppress terror attacks and avert potential tragedies.
Last December, National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) Director Joe Kent in testimony before the House Committee on Homeland Security astonishingly told Congress that NCTC has identified around “18,000 known and suspected terrorists“ that are in our country.
WPIX, a New York news outlet, reported yesterday: “The heightened security situation was evident in a variety of high-profile locations throughout the city on Monday, including at Bryant Park, in Midtown. There, at midday, nearly a dozen NYPD emergency services officers in full tactical gear stood watch, carrying long guns. Standing beside them were the officers of a canine unit.”
According to J. Michael Waller, a highly respected counter terror expert, the tempo of terrorist attacks in the West is only beginning. “I anticipate more attacks. These are low-cost, high-impact military operations against us,” he told me.
Waller is the president of Georgetown Research, a political risk and private intelligence company in Washington, D.C. as well as a Senior Analyst at the Center for Security Policy.
Waller is only one of many national security officials who now sees the possibility of new terror attacks threatening the Western world and especially Jewish communities outside of Israel.
The U.S. State Department now has issued a cautionary warning to Americans living abroad: “Following the launch of U.S. combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. They may experience travel disruptions due to periodic airspace closures. The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution.”
Following Iranian missile attacks, the State Department closed our U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Thomas S. Warrick, affiliated with the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative and a former deputy assistant secretary for counterterrorism policy in the US Department of Homeland Security wrote for the Atlantic Council about security preparedness in the United States: “The Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the US Capitol Police will all be tested in the coming weeks and can afford zero failures. Iran will try every cyber trick it can mount, testing the Department of Homeland Security, the private sector, and US cyber defenses. Iran tried in the past, unsuccessfully, to meddle in US elections, and would almost certainly fail to have any impact this time.”
The British media outlet Sky News reports that the terror level in Britain is rising. It’s Prime Minister, Sir. Keir Starmer, cowardly said he would not permit the U.S. military to use British bases, but then after Hezbollah drones tried to hit a British military base in Cyprus, he reversed himself and said he supported raising the security threat and supporting the British military to take new actions to protect British subjects.
Britain, which also has a large Muslim population now is increasing its own threat level.
Asked on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips if the UK’s terror threat level is now under discussion, John Healey said: “Absolutely.“When you get a regime like this lashing out in the Middle East indiscriminately and widely, hitting civilian as well as military targets, when you have some of its proxies capable of other actions on their behalf, then of course, our force protection in the region is at its highest.
“Our alert and our vigilance in the UK is also high.”
Since Thanksgiving, alleged and real terrorists have been arrested in Dearborn, Michigan, Montclair, New Jersey, Fort Worth, Texas, Wilmington, Delaware and in the nation’s capital where an Afghan immigrant killed a National Guard soldier and wounded another.
The tension for American Jews has become palpable in the past year. In December, a Jewish New Yorker was stabbed on the streets of Brooklyn as he left religious services. His attacker seethed as he raised his knife saying, “I’m going to kill a Jew today.”
And in January, a man rammed his car into the Jewish Chabad’s headquarters in Brooklyn while 1,000 students and rabbis were studying.
“These violent Jew-haters aren’t bothering to cloak their prejudice in the garb of political concern for Palestinians,” the New York Post editorialized. “They are mainlining pure antisemitism, spitting out bilious, transparent rage.”
We’re all aware of the Chanukah attack in Australia which left 15 Jews murdered and dozens wounded. The Australian government now says that the attack wasn’t a random father-son attack. They say the two were radicalized Islamic State assassins
Following the attack, the Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett at a news conference said, “These are the alleged actions of those who have aligned themselves with a terrorist organization, not a religion,” Barrett said. An Islamic state flag was strewn on the front windshield of the attacker’s car along with improvised explosive devices – remotely controlled bombs.”
Tulsi Gabbard, the director for National Intelligence says we shouldn’t be surprised by the Australian attack or on any future suicide attacks against the West.
She wrote on Facebook, “The tragic Islamist terror attack against those at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia sadly should not come as a surprise to anyone.
“Their goal is not only the Islamization of Australia but the entire world—including the United States. Islamists and Islamism is the greatest threat to the freedom, security, and prosperity of the United States and the entire world. It is probably too late for Europe—and maybe Australia. It is not too late for the United States of America. But it soon will be.”
In Paris officials canceled their iconic outdoor New Year’s-eve party at the Champs-Élysées due to “serious security concerns.”
This was the equivalent of cancelling our Times’ Square New Year’s eve celebration. It’s huge. Usually a million Parisians flock to the area. Now, they will only be able to watch a pre-recorded New Year’s video from the safety of their homes, police said.
“The reality, uncomfortable though it may be, is that Europe’s great capitals are quietly recalibrating public life in response to a persistent and ideologically driven threat — one that has now asserted itself far beyond Europe’s borders,” wrote Gary Cartwright in an EU Today post.
“Paris’s muted New Year feels less like administrative caution and more like an admission of reality – Europe’s Muslim population has its own ideas about Europe’s future,” Cartwright wrote.
Naturally, the West is bracing for Islamic attacks. Pro-Iranian organizations already have organized demonstrations in New York City deploring the U.S.-Israeli attacks. Within days of the attack on Iran, they mass produced printed up signs that read “Hands Off Iran.” These groups are now planning for demonstrations on March 7 across the nation.
Hopefully, we’ll only be faced with the nuisance of radical pro-Iranian protesters and nothing more.

Pretty signigicant I would ventture to say. We may have seen an example in Austin, but that was not one that was coming from Iran itself. A real terrror act would be far more comprehensive ^ devastating, would be my belief.
They need to get in line. Tranny and furry terror cells have been increasing.
If their existing mission is destroyed by Iranian regime change then it would reduce the number of terror attacks as some operators and cells would decide there is no reason to act since they would be serving no existing government or greater purpose.
No longer being part of a different Iran, and without the institutional support of its services, would weaken and demoralize any network here, some would act out of rage and desperation but it would be less effective than if they were being commanded and in service to the prior mother country and its leaders.

Since the Iranian Revolution Iran has always stated they would target American Citizens, American Economic activities as well as diplomatic and military assets worldwide.
In 2009 Iranian personnel fanned out across S.America and reconned all Diplomatic Missions. We we provided Grern Beret teams at my embassy during the two weeks they were coming out Caracas. During the Chavez period, Iran sent 500,000 rifles, and tons of weapons from Iran biweekly. The spread of Islamic clerics (code for regime plus Hezbolla) throughout S.America put these sleeper cells evetywhere.
Israel respinded by increasing security personnel assigned to each Jewish community to develop active countermeasures. The US tracked these personnel and catalogued their presence and networks.
Each time in the past the Iranian threat of hybyrd warfare was taken seriously by military commanders and diplomatic security. The FBI was eventually asdigned to many diplomatic missions abroad permanently.
Also International Narcotics Law Enforcement worked across the world tracking drugs and finding Iran in this rotten drug trade. State has worked on numerous levels with every government to reign in and document the threat.
Iran in the past was insulated making a global threat on Americsn interests, people and targets of opportunity.
Trump is the first president to disregard this long standing threat. US Sp Ops have spent years preparing to counter these sleepers. Trump may believe we can deal with Iranian terrorust threats for the first time with some certainty.
I believe the US has taken this threat seriously and planned for this moment. Like Trump said people will get killed, infrastructure destroyed, but America was ready, finally to the best of our abilities.
When Germany was defeated diehards continued lonewolf attacks for over 6 years. As long as peopke are committed to a cause they can be a petsistant problem. Eventually this too will run its course.
It may be years before Americans will be safe abroad. Our national oresence may shrink as we remove ourselves while selling military equipment. Like the EU, the US has again executed a war plan that destroys economically the emerging competituve threat from ME allies while maintaining our MIC and bloated USD.
American problems are being solved by a serues of regional conflicts draining the clout of countries becoming opposition or competitors to US dominance.
This is what a war in the oacigic looks like... Jsoan and any country hosting American forces will evacuate leaving them to be financially drained buying American weapins, while we mitigate our actual losses.
Trump has inavertently exposed American MIC Doctrine before application against China and N. Korea. This was not supposed to be a monitized conflict in the ME before the pacific campaign. Politicsns get a taste for prifits and military oplans go down the drain as profits are unexpectedly taken.
Dragging allies into conflicts to bear the brunt of damages is cynical on the surface, but creates a situation when American domiance will contine in spite of recessionary pressures toppled the British Empire. Ukraine broke the EU. Israel brike the Arabs. Japan, PI, S.Korea are next in line to see tbeir economies battered agsinst China. All the while the MIC sells the weapons transferring the wealth ensuring vassals remain weakened snd the US controlling the conflicts.

The fact that Biden’s lackeys opened the border and allowed just about anyone into the country makes it all but certain that there are Iranian sleeper cells (and other Islamist sleeper cells) in the country. That is why I never leave home without a handgun and a rifle in my truck. And I keep bacon cooked bacon in a sandwich bag should I have to use my weapons against a Islamist thug.
