It's the war industrial complex which made us the powerhouse we are today.
It's also something to be very concerned about when dealing with China, seeing how they have a larger manufacturing base, PPP, will pass us in GDP soon, have an immense tech capability of their own.
Look at what we did in Ukraine, Iran bombing their nuke development centers, or now taking out their C2.
That's all industry and tech which makes this possible.
China is a threat and is the ONLY nation on this planet with the potential to dethrone us in exactly that area which has made us the powerhouse we are.

Used to own stock in a company called Supertex, Inc (SRR) which was acquired in 2014 by Microchip. SRR is a Chinese company. Top exec was son of a Chinese billionaire who started & funded the company. Always found it interesting that the company maintained major contracts with the military supplying amongst other microchips. Years ago, Obama era, the US government was seriously considering allowing a Chinese firm (as in mainland communist China) to acquire L3, now called L3Harris.
This firm manufactures many of our high-end communications and crypto systems.

The problem with our government is that it’s a political apparatus that is entirely controlled by money.
I do not know a better way and I’m just stating what I think is a fact.
If others are like this/us, we call it a kleptocracy and corruption an oligarchy.
Our government at the lower and middle level demands extreme conformity by its employees: financial disclosures, automatic reporting by banks, occasional (spot check) surveillance of phones/text/email, reporting of foreign travel, background checks, invasive interviews and polygraphs.
An FBI employee is AFFRAID to accept a $30 lunch for free because that’s an ethics violation.
But in our governments most senior levels you have foundations, charities, art sales, hiring of family, preferential trade deals to family, hiring family as consultants, speaking fees (Clinton milked that one hard), $50,000 a plate fund raiser for campaigns... At the most senior levels, it’s all about how to pay for the next campaign, funding the party, and making politicians and their family rich. The “treason” you speak of is in Congress and often even the executive office (Not Trump - that dude in fact better keep his head on a swivel because he’s stepping on toes). The human’s ability to “rationalize” one’s behavior is near unlimited.
