~I'm just emerging from a rather grisly week and was hoping to catch up leisurely with relatively inconsequential things such as the State of the Union, only to wake and find that we have a brand new war:

I'm not sure, after the last quarter-century, that the over-butch monikers impress anyone anymore. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the next one were designated "Operation Somewhat Irked" or "Operation Mildly Peeved". Be that as it may, Lindsey Graham is already at the if-erection-lasts-for-over-six-hours-consult-your-doctor phase:

The Israelis - the only participating ally in "Epic Fury" - are characterising it as "a broad and joint operation" to "remove existential threats to Israel". President Trump says "major combat operations" are underway and that his goal is "freedom for the people".

Steyn rightly points out that this is a blatant violation of one of Trump’s core campaign promises since 2015.

Nobody gets 100% of everything they vote for.
And you are the biggest hypocrite on FR right now — with your insufferable rants about “globalists” every time someone dares to post something that doesn’t fit your political agenda.
Trump is a peace monger, and he’s tried and tried and tried to make a reasonable deal with the Iranian nuts but to nail avail.
But he pledged to protect the United States and he is. Not to mention the rest of the semi-sane world.
I think Steyn will change his mind on this, providing it is successful & results in a free Iran. Not another failed mission that costs billions yet achieves nothing.
