Hayworth: My Dad Is [Texas AG, Senate candidate] Ken Paxton—And I’m Setting the Record Straight
Texas Scorecard ^ | 2/26/2026 | Mattie Hayworth

Posted on 02/27/2026 11:43:26 AM PST by JeepersFreepers

My dad is Ken Paxton, and as you may know, he’s running for the United States Senate. I’m not a political strategist or a pundit. I’m his daughter, and I know him better than almost anyone.

So when his opponent, unable to compete on record, on results, or on values, resorts to attacking my father’s character and personal life, I feel compelled to speak up. Not as a campaign surrogate. As his daughter.

Let me start with what everyone already knows: my dad’s record as Texas Attorney General is extraordinary. He sued the Biden administration over 100 times, fighting back against unconstitutional federal overreach.

He defended Texas’ pro-life laws all the way to the Supreme Court and won. He protected parental rights, secured our border, fought human trafficking, and stood firm against the radical gender ideology being pushed into our children’s classrooms and schools.

His opponents can dispute a lot of things, but they cannot dispute that. So instead, they stoop to ugly attacks on the man.

And that’s where I come in, because not everyone gets the privilege of knowing my dad the way I do.

Growing up, my dad was everything a father should be. Nobody worked harder. Nobody sacrificed more. Nobody showed up more consistently than him.

He was at my games, at my school events, present in the moments that mattered and in the quiet, ordinary ones too. He was the kind of dad who made you feel seen and loved, not just on the big occasions, but every single day.

He also showed me what faith looks like when it’s actually lived out, not just talked about. I saw him reading his Bible in the mornings before the rest of the house was awake. He took me to church. He taught me to memorize scripture. He made sure I understood that nothing, not politics, not career, not reputation, comes above God.

And it was my dad, right there on my bedroom floor, who led me to faith in Christ. That moment is one of the most sacred of my life, and it belongs to him and me. That is the man his opponents are trying to caricature. That is the man they are lying about.

When I was little I remember that my dad set the bar high, high enough that I went looking for a husband who matched it. The reason I ended up with such a wonderful man in my husband Daniel, who is such a devoted father to our four children, is because my dad showed me what that was supposed to look like.

He modeled what it means to love your family with intention and consistency. He set the example of the kind of person I wanted to marry and become.

And now, watching him with my children, his grandchildren, I see all of it again. They call him Poppop, and they absolutely adore him. He is present, he is invested, he is the same man I grew up with. That doesn’t happen by accident. That is character. That is who he has always been.

When his opponent can’t win on policy, he goes after character. But anyone who has spent real time with my dad knows that the attacks bear no resemblance to the man they claim to describe.

My dad is not perfect; none of us are. But he is a man of deep faith, genuine love for his family, and an unrelenting commitment to doing right by the people of Texas.

He doesn’t fight for conservative values because it’s politically convenient. He fights because he believes it with everything he has and because he wants a better future for my kids, for your kids, for every family in this state.

That’s what drives him. I’ve seen it. My children have felt it. It’s not a campaign message. It’s who he is.

The voters of Texas deserve a senator who has actually fought for them, not one who is running on rhetoric while hoping no one looks too closely at his record.

My dad has spent years delivering real results: defending life, protecting children, upholding the Constitution, and refusing to back down when Washington comes knocking. That is not nothing. That is everything.

When I look at this race, I see a clear choice. On one side, a man with an impeccable conservative record and a lifetime of showing up for Texas and his family. On the other, a candidate whose only path to victory runs through attacking not only my dad but our family directly, because the record comparison isn’t close.

My dad will make an incredible United States Senator. I know that because I know him. And I hope that after reading this, you do too.

Go get ‘em, Dad. We love you, and we’re with you.

—Mattie

This editorial by Paxton's daughter should help blunt the impact of his affair and divorce by his wife on his campaign. Paxton is flawed but is immensely better than his incumbent opponent, RINO John Cornyn.

This is good! I was expecting something like Elon Musk’s “Son” who has turned against his Dad. This young lady here is articulate, mature and observant.

I became a single dad after my wife died when my daughters were 4 and 1...and that produced some wetness in my eyes...

Paxton is absolutely better. I am praying Cornyn gets the boot.

Unfortunately, it may deepen any existing divide between the daughter and her bitter mother who, it appears, does not support the father.

We are all flawed; there was this “fall from grace” episode.

Paxton is not running for Parson.

No one fights harder, nor produces more.

No one was more flawed than King David, but God uses flawed messengers.

Anyone else disappointed that thread turned out to not be about Rita Hayworth?

Amen....our family already did.

Praying Cornholio is adios, for good. He’s done enough damage to this country.

two votes today for Ken. Not sure what happened with Angela, and we know it was wrong, but don’t know all aspects of it. If the daughter can still write this, seems to say something. I’ve never waivered in my support of him.
