Louisiana public schools got the go-ahead to post the Ten Commandments in classrooms after a federal appeals court on Friday lifted an order that had stopped the state from enforcing a law requiring the displays.
The majority opinion by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a preliminary injunction issued by a lower court that had blocked state officials from enforcing the law, which was passed in 2024 by Louisiana’s Republican-controlled Legislature and championed by Gov. Jeff Landry.
A U.S. District Court judge and a three-judge panel on the 5th Circuit both previously said the law, which requires all public K-12 schools and colleges in Louisiana to post the biblical text, is unconstitutional because it violates students’ right to religious freedom.
Friday’s ruling by the full 5th Circuit, which is considered the country’s most conservative federal court of appeals, did not weigh in on the constitutionality of the law.
Instead, the majority said it is too soon to block the law on constitutional grounds because there are many “unresolved” questions, such as what the Ten Commandments posters will look like, how prominently they will be displayed and whether teachers will incorporate them into their lessons.
The majority added that nothing in the ruling prevents future challenges to the law “once the statute is implemented and a concrete factual record exists.”
Attorney General Liz Murrill, whose office defended the law in court, celebrated the ruling Friday and said it allows Louisiana public schools to immediately start posting displays of the Ten Commandments.

I mean it’s a historical type writing with a huge significance on our own society/country, the founding and the judicial and moral system. A lot of kids haven’t been exposed to it so they aren’t learning.
Let's see them rail against that!
Lib 1: "If we object to this ruling, the Muslims will be offended!"
Lib 2: "Yes, but religion has no place in a court ruling."
Lib 1: "That may be, but if we make a stink about this, the Muslims may chop off our heads!"
"Lib 2: (Sigh) I guess we better shut up about this one..."
This is the next pillar of the left that is going to fall…
The insane freedom of religion means freedom from religion nonsense that the same activists 60s and 70s court invented will fall
‘A lot of kids haven’t been exposed to it so they aren’t learning.’
That needs to change now.
It all goes back to that evil prick Warren and his SC. Our nation was crippled by him.
Watching a lion’s share of YouTube videos concerning teens and twenties with cars, I think it’s time for the “for what? ers”, to learn some basic “axioms”.
( Yes they are Mosaic laws, they won’t get that, either, so “axioms”.)
My question about these “axioms”, is it “Do not kill”,, or, “Do not murder”? In wartime, there is killing, a lot, which produces conscientious objectors. Murder is more to the root of urban and rural crime, not during wartime.
Killing is war is not 'murder', which is what the prohibition in the 5th Commandment is about.
I’m with you on this one.
Islam is filth. A degenerate cult that encourages the most base desires of man.
Another idiotic move from Eisenhower. JFK at least picked Byron White.
“Lib 1: “If we object to this ruling, the Muslims will be offended!””
Yes, that was the argument. Christians are offended when it is not allowed, so why does the offense taken by a few Muslims, at this point, outweigh the offense taken by the vast majority of Christian?
Yes Ike was really a mixed bag. Some good and some terrible things just like Nixon in that regard.
What he did to the American hero Joe McCarthy is unforgivable.
JFK ran to Eisenhower and Nixon’s right on Communism in 1960.
