Court clears way for Louisiana law requiring Ten Commandments in classrooms

A U.S. appeals court has cleared the way for a Louisiana law requiring poster-sized displays of the Ten Commandments in public classrooms to take effect.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals voted 12-6 to lift a block that a lower court first placed on the law in 2024. In the opinion released Friday, the court said it was too early to make a judgment call on the constitutionality of the law.

That’s partly because it’s not yet clear how prominently schools may display the religious text, if teachers will refer to the Ten Commandments during classes, or if other things like the Mayflower Compact or Declaration of Independence will also be displayed, the majority opinion said.

Without those sorts of details, the panel decided it didn’t have enough information to weigh any First Amendment issues that might arise from the law. In other words, there aren’t enough facts available to “permit judicial judgment rather than speculation,” the majority wrote in the opinion.

But the six judges who voted against the decision wrote a series of dissents, some arguing that the case was ripe for judicial review and others saying that the law exposes children to government-endorsed religion in a place they are required to be, presenting a clear constitutional burden.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Trans-cult flags decorating a classroom with porn included in all lessons is okay.

Ten Commandments on a 8x10 poster equals endorsing a religion.

The Ten Commandments are common sense. Why do folks have a problem with it?

Answer-leftists. They’re against everything that brings people together and come up with common interests and their evolvement. Why were 3+ Soviets not allowed to gather just to have a conversation in public? Every institution deserves to be taken down for whatever they stand for, be it fun, business, purposeful gatherings. They insist on being the turd in the punch bowl.

Once the boundaries disappear(think borders) their job becomes easier. Instill fear. Just look at the wolf stalking the sheep. Everyone of them is scared even though the wolf is outnumbered. A few leftists with all the weapons is all it takes. Starts with going after the Commandments. Give them an inch(church/state separation) and they’ll take mile.

Those 80-20 issues Trump advocates is exposing them more and more. Perhaps the sheep will win this time.

You’re right. Double standard.

Compromise could be The Trans Commandments or a social worker paid to write up The Ten Suggestions based on a person’s feelings.

Actually a good idea as a way to show the value of an actual belief system.

“government-endorsed religion”

No! Government endorsed history. The Ten Commandments were a historical document thousands of years ago that established one of the first in history forms of government. Prior to the Ten Commandments there were governments and documents. But this is the first recorded instance of a founding document. They others just grew with traditions followed by piecemeal documents.

Court clears way for Louisiana law requiring Ten Commandments in classrooms

So are the classroom posters going to have the "do not kill" version of the commandments, or the "do not murder" version?

Thou shall not kill

Good question.

The left doesn’t see any difference in the two.

James L. Dennis, “Sodomy Bill Clinton” Judge, joined by James Graves [Benedict Obama stooge], Steven Higginson [Benedict Obama stooge],
Dana Douglas [”Showers With Preteens” Biden], and Irma Carrillo Ramirez [”Showers With Preteens” Biden], Circuit Judges, dissenting.

Interesting that all the dissenters are Sodomite groomers.
