U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee suggested in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson that, under a biblical interpretation, Israel could claim a right to territory spanning much of the Middle East.
'''
Driving the news: In a "Tucker Carlson Show" interview released Friday, Carlson confronted Huckabee about his interpretation of biblical verse Genesis 15:18, which describes God promising Abram, later called Abraham, and his descendants land "from the Nile to the Euphrates."
Supporting that verse, Carlson said, would suggest Israel could claim a right to land including "basically the entire Middle East," including countries like Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, as well as parts of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
"Not sure we'd go that far," Huckabee said in reply. "It would be a big piece of land." Carlson then pressed him: "Does Israel have the right to that land?"
"It would be fine if they took it all," Huckabee responded, before later adding that Israel is not actively seeking to take over the Middle East and has a right to live in the land it currently holds.

Huckabee is right, I see nothing inaccurate with the position Isreal owns that land.
What I see are people who are fighting God’s will.
If the story is true as is reported here, Huckabee should resign. It’s one thing to express those views as a private citizen, quite another as a US ambassador.
Funny how Israel does not think white people have a right to their own lands:
Israeli lawmakers urge the West to accept refugees from Gaza

Exactly when did Gazan’s, ergo Palestinians become white?
Are you an ESL student? Israel wants to dump non-white people into white countries
But that's not the United States' diplomatic stance toward the region. HHuckabee has been entrusted with the role of an American diplomat and tasked with articulating his government's foreign policy and advancing American interests.
Instead, he comes off sounding like some shady tent preacher.
Trump should recall him
The Jews of the State of Israel have no biblical right to the land until they enter into a covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ. But then non-Jewish believers would have the same right. What is important is faith, not ethnic descent.
All land is rightfully owned by the parties that can defend it from others
Ambassador Huckabee overlooked one germane fact.

“What I see are people who are fighting God’s will.”
Complete insanity.
Muslinms are not Christians and don’t believe in the Bible.
Then there is the little matter of New Testament Christianity where Paul says symbols have been changed, where Christians are now chosen.
There is no verse in the Old Testament where the land was ceded to Israel in perpetuity — the covenant came with blessings and curses that required fulfillment. The curses required national extermination.
No, your post was very unclear. I see it more as Israel saying if you think so highly of the Gazan’s you take them. More a put your actions where your “beliefs” are.
Nope replacement theology has been the root of supposed Christian’s antisemitism.
Paul did not write that Jews lost their inheritance and this thread is not one to debate that point.
In short, we are grafted into the vine, not replacing the vine.
Foreign policy and diplomacy should be rooted in realpolitik and balanced interests. While other areas of government have plenty of room to be informed by religious principles, this is not one of them
Huck has it right. An ambassador telling the truth. Breath of fresh air!
the same time greeks and italians did
Meh. People will argue over the religious history and who has a “right” to certain land according to different religions/histories. What is indisputable is that the Israeli’s have the land in their borders and have the military forces needed to crush anybody who tries to take it from them. Therefore its Israeli land.
Such is the way of the world and the way its always been.
In short, we are grafted into the vine, not replacing the vine.
While I absolutely disagree with your second statement. I strongly recommend the first.
Please let's not turn this into another covenant-versus-dispensationalist dogpile.
Greeks and Italians are descended from an entirely different lineage. I get your point but as far as Arabs and Jews are concerned, they are basically within the same lineage.
