The Trump administration is closer to a major war in the Middle East than most Americans realize. It could begin very soon.
Why it matters: A U.S. military operation in Iran would likely be a massive, weeks-long campaign that would look more like full-fledged war than last month's pinpoint operation in Venezuela, sources say.
The sources noted it would likely be a joint U.S.-Israeli campaign that's much broader in scope — and more existential for the regime — than the Israeli-led 12-day war last June, which the U.S. eventually joined to take out Iran's underground nuclear facilities. Such a war would have a dramatic influence on the entire region and major implications for the remaining three years of the Trump presidency.
With the attention of Congress and the public otherwise occupied, there is little public debate about what could be the most consequential U.S. military intervention in the Middle East in at least a decade. Breaking it down: Trump came close to striking Iran in early January over the killing of thousands of protesters by the regime.
But when the window of opportunity passed, the administration shifted to a two-track approach: nuclear talks paired with a massive military build-up.
By delaying and bringing so much force to bear, Trump has raised expectations for what an operation will look like if a deal can't be reached.
And right now, a deal does not look likely

Hugh and series?
The more prepared and likely that war looks the less likely it will happen. Trump understands.
That one never gets old, does it?
I certainly hope that’s the case as well will
As I understand it, We are already in a war with Iran.
Of extreme importance is the fact that India has joined the effort to help dealing with Iranian shadow tankers. India is working with the UAE to capture the sanctioned Iranian tankers at sea.
The alliance has been called the Abrahan-Indo Accord coalition

That would be a thing to see...
Carrots and sticks.
Gotta be ready to use sticks when carrots fail.
Much over-hyped — yes, a very necessary action. But no, no need of a “major war”. It will be 98 percent handled remotely via electronics and from the air of course. We’re not looking at anything like Normsndy2
Sorry, mass media. But you’ll still get your headlines not to worry. Smiles smiles.
Axios.
Nothing more needs to be said.
As long as ground forces are not involved, I say take out the regime.
- They have sworn our destruction
- They have killed or maimed, directly and indirectly several thousand US military personnel
- They refuse to give up nuclear development which will give them the means to take out entire cities
Regime change is in the essential interests of the US.
Never. I’ll be stuned if it ever does.
Bomb Bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran...
Problem now is, they have already murdered that part of their population that were going to change things. What’s the use now...
Ultimately, the imams are going to have to be removed. They will eventually get some kind of usable nukes, and they will most certainly use them.
Yep. Or more accurately, they (the leadership and military, not the people) are at war with us.

Extremely important and germane!......
I will suggest you watch the link above. It provides some really great insight to what is being discussed. It also provides lots of really important facts on what is happening with Iran.
Bkmk
Please see my post 18 above. It provides lots of very interesting details on our efforts against Iran
Yup.
“A U.S. military operation in Iran would likely be a massive, weeks-long campaign”
unlike the great majority of wars fought by the western allies in the Mideast in the past 50 years that all lasted just a few days each, right? ... unlike the recent bombing campaigns by Israel that took all of the air defenses in Syria and Iran and against the Syrian military bases, all of which just lasted a few days, right?
apparently, according to axios, it’s no longer possible for the most powerful military in the world to spend years, months, and weeks mapping out command and control structures, military bases, and depots in Iran, and then taking them all out in less than a week of pinpoint attacks, right?
