A race hustler for decades, but RIP nonetheless.

I think I shall turn off the news for the next week. I don’t want to hear the coming hero worship and rewriting of Jackson’s history.

He dodged a bullet in 1968 when MLK was shot.

A friend of mine was deputy manager of large auto dealership in Chicago during the fuel crisis in the late 70s. In desperate need of gas to run their operation, my friend learned that expensive gas could be had off the books through a black community organization. He personally paid Jesse Jackson thousands in cash for what proved to be a short tanker load of contaminated gas. A later federal audit of Jackson’s organization criticized the disappearance of federal funds and their allotment of rationed gas — all to no effect because Jimmy Carter was President at the time.

He did more than any Klan member or skinhead to stoke racism and distrust among blacks and whites. Racism was his meal ticket and he dined well.

Right.
Expect some hateful comments (and he deserves some) - but damn admit he could turn a phrase.

And it was Jackson types that worked to block January 12 from being declared Rush Limbaugh Day in Missouri.

I hope everyone can be respectful. I didn’t like what he stood for but, I hope he repented of his sins and asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins and put his total trust in Jesus.
Eternity is a long time. I wouldn’t wish hell on my worst enemy. Jesus says to love our enemies

βThere is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs β partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.β
